I can’t even figure out how to view round by round dice results for the battles

Wait, now I think I got it….  Game history and then arrow down through it and look at the right…

What happened Gamerman? You like credit cards again?

I also think TripleA (if there’s another option please let me know) looks terrible and feels clunky.  It has it’s own drawbacks, and I refuse to try it a third time.

    @Me1945:

Didn’t take long for the “I told you so’s”, huh.

I haven’t even made a move yet, Me.

I am only trying it because my life long friend and relative and gaming buddy for life is really into G40 on Triple A only and asked for a game.

I stand by my statement that IT LOOKS TERRIBLE (very hard to see sea zones, borders, movement possibilities), and FEELS CLUNKY (seeing moves and reviewing results is cumbersome and inefficient), and HAS IT’S OWN DRAWBACKS.  I see I also didn’t say that I would never try it again.  I said that I refuse to try it a third time, which is a current statement and leaves allowance for a reassessment in the future - so I don’t even see any words to eat - nice try.  And thanks for coming to my defense, Bold.

Be warned - playing one game with it will only make me much more informed with my future criticisms.
Man, it’s hard to see what exactly is in a territory, and if you zoom out so that you can see more of the map, then you can’t see the units!  Like anything, I’m sure players get used to it, but it still leaves much to be desired.

Now let me play a move or two, for crying out loud.

  • 12

on the right side of the game board there are four tabs titled Actions, Stats, Economy, Territory.  If you click on Territory, then mouse over the territory, it shows exactly what is in each territory clearly.  if you press shift when over the territory, you can then move your mouse over to the right and scroll down if there are too many to see at once.

  • 25 24 23 22 15 11 10 Official Q&A Mod

I needed you to tell me about the shift.
I did notice the “territory” showed you the units more clearly, but didn’t know how or if it was possible to scroll down - thank you very much

My main complaint is more that looking at the map, it’s more difficult to see the composition and number (especially number) of pieces in an area.  Is there a way to increase the font size of the little bitty counter numbers that say how many of each unit are there?

Eh - oh well.  I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

  • 25 24 23 22 15 11 10 Official Q&A Mod

I see holding shift also allows you to scroll left and right on the map with the mouse wheel…. chances are good you already know that though

  • 25 24 23 22 15 11 10 Official Q&A Mod

    OK, found the help menu….

Noted that the shift/scroll left and right capability was omitted, though  :-D

OK, I find this very funny -

I can’t figure out how to play.  How do I purchase units?

  • 12

let me open the map, i’ll walk you through it.

    NM - got it

  • 25 24 23 22 15 11 10 Official Q&A Mod

I had to go to “actions”, then click “done” for the Germans

Hmm, this brings back good memories of the Hasbro 1998 CD game of the Classic A&A….  Purchasing units screen is very similar

  • 12

correct.  don’t worry, you will be a pro in no time, if you don’t get too frustrated first.  trust me, it’s all there and it works very well.

  • 12

the purchase unit screen allows you to play around very quickly and cleanly for various purchase options.

why did you attack korea?  :-)

  • 25 24 23 22 15 11 10 Official Q&A Mod

Well, the Mongolian rules are very confusing, but if I understand them correctly,
if the Russians attack Korea before Japan attacks Russia, then the Mongolians will never join the Russians.
Mongolia does become a strict neutral now, right?  So Japan cannot attack Mongolia without making all strict neutrals in the world go pro-Allies.  If I’m wrong, and Monglia can be attacked by Japan without any effect on the rest of the world, then I wouldn’t have done it.

If I’m right (and of course I’m pretty sure I am or I wouldn’t have done it - kind of hoping you know the Mongolian rules and can confirm), then Japan will not be able to use Mongolian territory in the future, and that is huge.  The Chinese front and the East Russian front can never be easily joined by Japan if Mongolia is a true neutral.  Given your 100% kill Russia strat on G1, I figure it’s likely you will attack East Russia with everything on J1 and proceed to take over Mongolia in the next few rounds.

If I’m right, and Mongolia is a true neutral now for the rest of the game, then I think pre-emptively attacking Japan is brilliant, given my limited G40 experiences with Alpha3.  If I’m wrong, well, I just wasted an infantry and I can’t move the other 6.

Clearly, the biggest attraction of Triple A is that you can move things on the map without having to switch back and forth to the internet to type in the moves.
But I am dreading having to force it to comply with the rules when it doesn’t follow them properly, and it looks like that happens more often than I would like…  That was the biggest downfall of GTO online’s program - except there you had no way to edit and force it to follow the rules.  Still remember the glitch with the Suez canal that didn’t count plane movement points correctly  :x
