Japanese Strategy needed!

Im looking for an experienced classic opponent, any variant will be fine.

completely agree.  THough I generally wait to buy ARM.  I usually buy infantry and load up my front line until there is jsut nothing Germany can do , then buy tanks, and just roll over Europe.

Russia?  WORST possible move in the game.  Sure, build a Yakut IC, defended by your consilidated INF and tank from the Eastern territories.  That is 5 less INF that Germany has to chew through the round after Russia buys it, and perhaps more later as Russia places some units at the new IC to defend against recurrent strikes by Japan… not to mention the free SRB run Japan would get to destroy an addiitional 1-2 Russian INF’s per round.  Not to mention that, no matter what Russia does, Japan WILL take that IC in Yakut, and then start building westerward bound forces to use against Russia.

As always, it depends on the situation……A not often used resource for the allies:

A Russian ic in Yak can be a nice tactical resource at the start of the tech war. In case Jap gets heavies (maybe a lucky last resource), its nice to build that Rus ic in Yak (and move the aa into Yak). Now Jap has the tough choice to take it or not. If they take it, they are vulnurable to allied SBR runs. If not, than Jap can get huge cash flow problems.

In some case (but less often than the Rus Yak ic) UK can do the same trick in Ind. Since both UK and Rus were already in range of Jap SBR runs, it wont make a lot of difference.

Yeah, I don’t like options 3 or 4 either. But they are possibilities that could be used.

The PA or PE bids are the most conventional strats and generally both seem to give the Axis a good chance at winning.

With operation sea lion, I’m not convinced that it is an automatic win because I think Russia will be all over Germany and the ipc’s Germany gains by the UK will be needed to keep the US out of England. But I haven’t played this strategy enough to really try it out.

With rolling for tech, you are right, Germany had better get lucky soon with this. I think this would make for either a very short game (Germany doesn’t get IT) or a very long game (Germany gets IT). Again, I haven’t played this enough to really know how well it works.

Feedback on these is a good thing because even if an idea is half-baked it still might be fun to try sometime :wink: .

I agree with Zero on all his comments except on the above regarding battleships.

Battleships are allowed their special one shot only if they were not involved in a naval battle. If the battleship is present in the same SZ as a naval battle, it has to participate (just like any attacking transports present). After the naval battle, the battleship’s turn is done and it cannot fire its special one shot onto the land battle.

Wild2000 is right. Silly me. That’s a house rule we have that Battleships can participate in both battles. Silly me.

You need to destroy the Hawaii fleet to keep your back free. Its too much for japan to fight both fronts, thus i feel its better to take out Hawaii instantly.
I play with RR, and Japan has no trouble taking the Pacific.

But i guess its all relative.
