• I think in this last moment the rule must be changed.

If someone is dropping away, then all his units are changed to neutral. His territory zones will not be filled with 3 neutral soldiers. Also, every unit what can legally move to capital is moved to capital.

  • @moilami:

    Good job.

(Just something what came to my mind: If you fill the lands of dropped out player with soldiers, then the one who was conquering that dropped away player could get enormous last bad sports bite from the dropped away player.

Example: Bad sports player sees his capital is taken away and he have loads of empty lands. Bad sports player certainly drops away, so that his enemy would benefit the least for conquering him.)

    I hope nobody drops off!

If someone drops of we might just stop moving his units AND keep building units in the capitol if possible…

  • That sounds good.

Actually, as I just read in the rules, we could simply replace an absentee player with an AI (permanently, or until he returns).

  • Does AI work in PBF?

How cruel, I go away for a few hours and you start an eight player game without me.  Oh well, I can make popcorn and kibitz as the game goes.

If I need any help can I PM you for suggestions?

To the extent that my playing one game on that map lends my opinions wisdom and balance, sure.

Pick UK, buy lots of ships, insult whoever is playing France.

    lol!!

  • Dunno of NE FFA8, but in FFA5 do what Degrasse said + you don’t have to insult France. France will always have to stay alerted of UK landings.

    In NE FFA5:

    1. Chose UK.
    2. Buy tons of ships ignoring everything else.
    3. After unquestioned naval superiority build ground troops.
    4. Expand.
    5. Win.

    6. Optionally declare war to the one most powerful in game and harass him, if you think he might end up too powerful for you.

  • It all happened so fast!  :-D

I’ll be reviewing the countries the best I can, and choosing within the next 1/2 hour.

  • Ok, for better or worse, I’ll take the UK.

Seems like a good beginner nation - good $$, somewhat safe from immediate annexation…

  • I think it is a very good choise. You should have no problems for a long time untill at least two other nations work hard to kill you. And that wont happen easily because they would become vulnerable themselves to attacks from elsewhere.

  • Ok! Wittman is next!

  • Sounds like fun… I thought about Sweden, and Russia, both for the challenge of it, but felt I’d get swallowed up too quickly as I learn the game.

Good luck, and may the dice be relatively fair to us all.

    That is pretty funny.

Would you be willing to stay tuned and take over the first empty slot, if one comes up?

  • '21 '19 '18 '17 '16

Sure, I can do that if needed.

  • Cool, thanks Degrasse.

BTW, I really think we ought to randomly assign nations to players instead of going through this tedious procedure of letting everyone choose their country, one by one… This would save us about 48 hours on our start time. Thoughts?
