    His Majesty’s government was distressed to read in the editorial columns criticism of the previous policy of not focusing very tightly on cities paved with yellow stones instead of allowing Lord Nelson to chase the French fleet.  Since Lord Nelson is currently displaying the Victory to those who wish to see in the North sea at the moment, perhaps he will visit Cristiana and Stockholm as well.

    Sadly, the Admiralty reports that a lack of map edges in the Mediterranean thus allowing the French fleet to bravely run away.

    Many of His Majesty’s soldiers and sailors have reported how much they have enjoyed their recent tours of Lisbon and Madrid and are looking forward to more tours in other cities such Lyons or Paris.

    I am just thinking on what grounds I should make the decision. RP France might be too scared of Russia, even though UK is kinda arch enemy. Russia is also the super power, so to balance the game I should fight against Russia.

    To the extant that the evil French Republic may choose to interfere more in the efforts of Russia to reach seven victory cities before His Majesty’s forces capture the seventh yellow, yes you may pick the winner.

    Earlier in this thread there was griping about the invincible position of the Britain because of the naval disparity.  I can see your point about the disparity, this is my first game on this map but after a few turns to get the hang of it the British navy is very hard to stop.

  • Well, I wont play this map anymore (but of course will finish this game). Things are so broken in this.

    NE FFA8 is another story. It does not try to be balanced but more historical, and it can be more fun with more dynamics on alliances.

    UK have the biggest navy and production capabilities second to none. If UK is not stopped now, it will never be stopped. It will spread all over the world like a cancer, and destroy everything what is good and holy on this earth. And the worst thing about UK - I personally am not even sure are they humans or just some inferior barbaric life form.

    If you don’t want that your great culture and language is to be replaced with that black speech they call English, then take an action now. Stop the cancer before it is too late, and save the world.

  • So, I had a great plan to bring back into play process and leave Austria alone instead of attacking it. I just needed 1 single move from Austria, if he did it, as my move would have forced me to move things out of reach of his capitol, he would have survived the game. I even offered him alliance (meaning I would have given back all his original territories) but still, he didn’t do it.

    Now I’m puzzled, I don’t understand how this can be happening.

    In normal circumstances, when you are in trouble and another power wants to help you, the helping power reinforces you, so that the attacking power doens’t have enough to crush him.

    In this game, France “helped” Austria by using them, pillaging them and moved through their territories to gain a very easy Ottoman capitol city, after the all-sacrifices of Austria.

    Now if this is not kingmaking, I don’t know what it is.

  • I can still win this game, and even if I put lots of effort into trying to make this a long game, by doing questionable choiches (like stopping attacking Austria when I had the chance to get him and instead I retreated), and I wanted really bad to liberate (and by liberate I mean LIBERATE for real, not just getting it myself) constantinople in 2 rounds with overwhelming forces, this would have made the game a very interesting twist.

    The thing is in those games, when there are not kingmakers players, you can’t rush VC wins, or the other players will ALL ally with you. That’s also why I wanted to stop my advance, why I gave Berling back to Austria, to keep a slow and steady balanced play and to not make myself a target.

    But instead what happened? France gets 3 VCs in Austrian/Turkey territory, and Austria is “ok” with it. Forces me to go south again to try stopping this nonsense.

    Then I also get namecalled when I show what’s happening to everyone. Dunno really, I’d really love to know why MIB didn’t made that single move I asked him to do.
