Desperate for a good German Strategy!

I prefer a J1 build of trn / inf without an IC.  I think it actually allows you to get more onto asia sooner than a J1 IC does, as well as giving you more flexibility with what you can do with the build.  I think there are some old posts around here about this build…

as far as i’m concerned, a dedicated strategic bombing campaign by either side is a waste of money insofar as building bombers and then replacing any that happen to get hit. the only time i generally use bombers is when i can’t use them to support any other attacks i might be using. it is worthwhile if you can get in some free shots, e.g if an IC has no AA to protect it, but I don’t generally like to use my bombers like that.

MIB, you said earlier in this thread the US fleet is usually dead by the end of round 2. I assumed you attacked with the US fleet to lose it……

So, as America, you’re faced with getting hit with Pearl II, since the Brit builds a carrier you fly the 2 US ftrs to the carrier, just wanna get that straight.’ I’m guessing you don’t counter attack the Japanese fleet off of Pearl. Have you tried using the US transport as a blocker and move the BB next to Panama? Can still be hit but only by 2 ftrs and no navy.

You mention threatening S. Europe with the US on turn 4. That we require putting the US fleet in a postion where they lose 1 round of trans-atlantic shipping, not usually a good bet but might be called for on occasion.

With me, I usually do take the worst-case scenario due to my cautious playing style :wink: Even then 180 IPCs are not the worst-case scenario, not unlocking heavy bombers at all would be (which you mentioned). Now unlocking bombers is like strategic bombing. Usually your bomber will not automatically get shot down on the 6th subsequent run – sometimes soon now or later then. I only use the “guarantee” which you stated.

Now lets say I lowered my 180 IPCs to 90 IPCs (which is pretty favorable). Will you still be willing to spend 90 IPCs for heavy bombers? Can you afford to?

It’s not to say that I won’t lock other technologies on the way, but the true gems are heavy bombers and industrial technology. What use will rockets do me if I’m Japan or Super Subs if I am Russia?

I have been reading the threads regarding Germany turn 1. I believe that even with a RR it is still nearly impossible for Germany to do anything. I have a question what about taking the transport and grabbing 2 guys from Finland and putting them in Africa? What should I do about Eastern Europe. I am basically pulling out of ukraine except 1 guy putting my armor in germany in italy and leaving 9 guys in Eastern Europe setting up a dead zone for the Russian to attack. I purchase 1 trannie and 8 guys. I do nothing with the battleship and bring over 2 guys to libya. Next I take 1 tank and 1 guy 1 territory south of libya and I land a plane in Libya. I also wipe out all British ships and leave the Russian stuff alone.
