  • I’ve never won on the Pacific map with the 6 VCs. And I take Calcutta every game I play as Axis, literally, most of the time on J3, never later than J4. I normally have so much invested in land battles that the US and Anzac just outpiece me to death and corner what’s left of my navy. Once the US gets a foothold and can start cranking out units, I’m generally relying on Germany to win the game before I get steamrolled. Got my butt absolutely destroyed in one of those games by allweneedislove - captured Calcutta, Moscow, Stalingrad, but couldn’t take Cairo before America had factories in Normandy and Southern France cranking out half a dozen units a turn If you want to call it, I’m cool with that, though, too.

    This was a first. I’ve never been not able to take and hold Yunnan. You were right to value it so highly. In my opinion, the three most strategically vital spaces on the board are Gibraltar as a runaway #1 (not counting VCs, of course) with Yunnan being #2 because it’s almost always important and Trans Jordan being #3 because, while it’s only important in certain games - in the games it is important in it’s absolutely crucial.

    Keep me in mind if you’re looking for somebody to play with. I’ve enjoyed both of our games  :-)
