i particularly did NOT enjoy your charmed dice throughout. :-P
but hey, it happens. upper 0.5% in the biggest battle of the game is a game changer.

Karl7 over Jennifer http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=31769.0
However, I learned that battle calculator in TripleA is WAY THE FRAK OFF, I mean it isn’t even close! Results gave me that 7 infantry would reduce an attacking stack of 18 infantry to 2-4 remaining, but real calculators gave me 14 left (actual result was 16 left.) Also results for India attack said attacker had 93% odds to win with at least 1 ground unit remaining, instead the real calculators returned 72% odds with significant chances for complete wipe out - which was what happened and would not have happened had I just run the trusted calculators and not the cruddy pos that ships with TripleA.
Also learned I have to check the sea zones because Australian ships look identical to American ones. That might need to be fixed somehow in tripleA because it’s really annoying to see a fleet break off in a later round somewhere and hit you when you were not expecting it.
I don’t blame Karl for it, I am not going to claim he had better dice or anything silly like that. I am going to say I only lost due to my naiveté with TripleA as a gaming platform and trusting it and that he stands no chance at all in a rematch. (little table talk taunting. lol.)

I answered your concerns in the Triple A issues thread.
I would NEVER trust a new calculator in a league game situation!! I ran my trusty calculator concurrently with Triple A’s for several games before I trusted Triple A’s. I do trust Triple A’s calculator, though, and I’ve never come across anyone else who has ever complained about it.
I can’t believe an A&A veteran like you would ever think that 7 infantry could hold off 18, though. You shouldn’t need a calculator for that.
Jenn, that’s 18 attack power and 18 hit points vs. 14 attack power and 7 hit points. Just eyeballing that, you oughta know you need a lot more than 7 to stand up against 18!
Now I will run that in Triple A’s calculator and see what I get.
-
Triple A calc for 18 infantry vs. 7 gives 100% chance of victory (rounded)
and an AVERAGE of THIRTEEN infantry remaining. So he should have only lost FIVE, to your SEVEN
-
You also had an AAA there you didn’t mention, so actually, expected victory with 12.7 infantry remaining (not 13.3).
Karl only lost 2. That’s in the 88th percentile, according to my super awesome calculator.
12th percentile (where you would be had you got lucky like him) would have Karl losing 8 infantry, and still winning with 10.Triple A calc appeears fine on this for me…

bmnielsen defeats Andul (allies +10)

Total schooling. There was literally never a moment in this match when I felt I had the upper hand. Europe, Asia and Africa just completely fell under the gradual spread of the evil and relentless Axis. Well done……
-
I didn’t WANT to hold them off, I wanted to decimate the stack but to get my opponent to fight me, I had to give him a reason! lol. the idea was to open the Russian front and reduce that stack of infantry from 18 to a more manageable 4 or 5. /sigh.
Yes I am not blaming the calculator, as you say, I should have run the numbers on frood. It can’t handle all the new rules, but it will at least give you an accurate result and the most likely outcomes. Dskelly is okay too, not as good as frood though!

Hi there. I’m looking to call myself victor (Axis) in my game against Shrimpboatchef (Allies) if I can? I think he made a post at the end of May that he would be unavailable for a week or so but I now haven’t seen him for over 2 months, including no response to a PM. I’ve bumped him 5 times in our game, which was in round 6 and which (in my opinion) I was heavily favoured to win.
If I have missed a post somewhere (eg. he is away on extended absence and will be back) then happy to continue the game if he still wants, otherwise I assume it’s OK to call it?
Cheers
