Germany tries to knock out the Allies by capitalizing on a mistake in an 80% battle and loses big. MM decides that a) G40 is getting kinda boring - Axis have one and only one way to win and b) losing games in a single battle is kinda boring. Time to take a loooonnnnggg break from G40 - it just isn’t all that.

I wanted to look at this 80% battle he was talking about but he didn’t even post the outcome after the combat move. It really sucks getting diced (trust me I empathize!). Maybe they could have a rematch with miamiumike playing allies and Karl playing axis with the same bid. just a thought.

Yeah - I realized I hadn’t posted the results….sorry…I attacked a fleet with a carrier, 2 fighters, 2 cruisers and a dd (plus 2 fighters scrambled) with 6 fighters, 3 bombers and a sub. This fleet also had 6 transports in it - the main purpose of the kill. I lost with him having 2 fighters left…
Oh well…ha!

Holy Smokes! That was a rout… wow, I was on a bad losing streak, partly because of dice and now BAMB! The dice turn around for me… :-P

As for a rematch - I will pass, thanks. I am giving up on G40 for a long time I think. As I mentioned above - almost every game I play or see has the exact same script with maybe a few lines changed. Further - almost every game I play or see also seems to end on one battle that goes horribly wrong. A game this size should not have that problem - but it does. I get if a 50-50 battle goes bad and that is game. It is, after all a coin flip. But when I consistently see games decided on battles that are 80, 90 or more percent? That is silly.
In short - right now I am bored with the game - there just does not seem to be much in the way of different ways to ‘win’ - and, frankly, I am tired of many of my losses coming due to a single battle that the dice go so much against the odds. I worked too hard and long in our game to get myself into a position to hopefully knock you out - and then, well, you saw what happened.
