@captain:
Are we supposed to post a link to the game?
Yes.
-
ok…thanks eggman!
-
here’s the link then…
snake11eyes defeats captain walker (game1) -
Infrastructure (Axis) over Eggman (Allies +8). Germany gets to have 60+ IPC income without even bringing the USA or Russia into the war. Thanks Larry!

Are you sure you didn’t give up prematurely again, Egg?

Are you sure you didn’t give up prematurely again, Egg?
It’s never premature…
I’d be willing to bet there won’t be a DoW from Japan J3, so Germany gets 1 more round to consolidate its holdings before having to fight USSR or USA. No way the UK can hold the Middle East in the face of attacks from Germany and Italy. The Allies just have to waste too much time building ships. By the time I can capture either Spain, Gibraltar, or Morocco, the Axis will be in Cairo and Russia will already be cracking since the southern front is already wide open. Feel free to war-game that out against yourself if you’re not convinced. I know you don’t agree that the game can be over this fast, but it really can. The Allies just have no chance (in general, not just this game).
-
Really? Cause they’re winning half their games
And you gave up against me after a good UK1 - I was the Allies…Just thought at a glance you had some good things going for you.
-
That’s SIXTEEN games, all with the Allies
Don’t want to be the “bad guys”, Egg?
Maybe you’ll have better luck with them. Or you’ll find out that the Allies really aren’t weaker, and that you’re just getting outplayed most of the time - who knows

And you gave up against me after a good UK1 - I was the Allies…Your memory must be a little fuzzy. It was a good UK1… for the Axis, which I didn’t happen to be playing at the time.
-

I should also say that I would never make a claim that the only reason I lose a game is because I was playing the Allies. I realize this is sort of implied if I say the Axis are largely unbeatable, but the Axis player does have a responsibility not to misuse their power.
-
You’re right again - I was mixed up!
I took the Axis against you both times. You gave up after failing to sink a transport in 96…Well, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again
-
Well, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again
I do. League rules prohibit me from trying more than twice against the same person.

Not if you’d split! Then you can play a 3rd!
You can play all you want if you can get the other player to agree…. It just won’t count in the league standings :-)
I see your point - you, Jeff, and Karl are actually running kind of low on options compared to the rest of us.
Hopefully they’ll re-evaluate that rule for 2014 -
I’d be happy to play you egg :-)
-
I see your point - you, Jeff, and Karl are actually running kind of low on options compared to the rest of us.
Hopefully they’ll re-evaluate that rule for 2014Well, you can see why it’s a rule- otherwise the top guy will just keep racking up points against the lowest guy ad infinitum. I don’t know what the alternatives are, since you don’t really have an individual score for each game that would allow you to say only the
best
games count. -
Egg, you could try playing someone like me who is at the bottom of the pile.
-
There are no points in the league.
Only win/loss record. See the league rules
It wouldn’t have to be a limit of 2 wins against a player. It could be 3.
If you cheese your way into the playoffs, that’s OK. The real players will wax you - that would be one’s reward if one was just a bottom feeder.
-

That’s basically what I said. Unlike games where you win by score, it’s a binary set here: you win or you don’t. If the game had a score, it would be easy to allow more games since you could take the scores into account when creating rankings. The only thing that approximates a score is the value of the bid used.

Whackamatt beat variance (allies+7). He took out the neutrals and did a surprise round 10 sealion - nice!
