@zlefin Interesting test. I think if you look at the league games in the forum I think the Yunnan save bid is 2 fighters Russia and 1 inf in Yunnan. Placement being in Russia and Volgograd. So typically there are 4 aircraft in Yunnan which pretty much makes it unassailable even if you bring the Bombers in from Tokyo. I have been testing bids as well for KGF/KIF strats. I will post them in this thread when I am done testing some of them.

Personally, I’m not a fan of Taranto as the Allies lose lots of material to force Italy to stay home. This allows/forces them to do what I feel is the optimal Axis strategy: support the German advance by preventing weak Russian blockers and protect the Western front.

I do like a sub in SZ91 to protect the cruiser and then be the sacrificial unit to attack the Italian DD+transport with 1 tac + 1 ftr.

The Yunnan stack is a very interesting option:
1 inf Yunnan
1 ftrs in Moscow + Volgograd
R1 DOW, send all 3 ftr + tac to Yunnan, the Japanese cannot really attack 15-85% battle.
Once the Chinese are up and running, the ftrs can go back home to protect.
If you do this, I would also add marine to India as it allows them to capture 1 more territory early. But beware, the Japanese might be forced to DOW J1 since they really cannot take anything else.

There is also the controversial bid placement 1 ANZAC inf New Guinea. This is allowed in some cases, but generally the rule is that the territory must have a unit in it prior to adding a unit. However, it does significantly help the ANZACs take Dutch New Guinea without needing a transport. Discuss with your opponent to get their view. Perhaps it would be allowed but there would be an additional cost to allow (6-10 IPCs?)

Regarding KGF vs KJF. My general plan is a) save my capitals that are under attack – i.e., is London, India and, New South Wales safe?
b) stop the Italian growth in the Med as this can get out of hand quickly if unchecked.
c) Stop the Japanese. The Germans can get large but taking Egypt is hard. If the Allies own the rest of the board, the economy stay in the Allies favor if the Japanese and DEI are contested.

? Nobody’s saying Formosa should be Chinese (and it isn’t under out of box rules). barnee is asking for Hainan to be Chinese. Hainan was only conquered by the Japanese in 1937 alongside the other original Chinese territories.

@barnee Maybe you can ask The Captain to make Hainan originally Chinese in his house rules.

IMHO eliminating victory cities condition makes the game only matter on one side of the Map. Usually the Euro side.

As far as bids go…depends on your opponent. If they are excellent at Germans make them play Allies. Very few are good at both sides of the map. Players that are good with both…always make them play allies or make sure you get sizable bids as allies.
There is a player active now who is dominating as Axis. I figured out he can’t play Allies at all. I bid 30-32 as allies and if he bids anything at all…I make him play Allies. I know get 30plus verse him and he is yet to win. I Yunnan stack him and dominate the Jap side.

I don’t see any conflict.  Sea zone 35 is not adjacent to any Japanese-controlled territories or islands.

If this is correct, then how would a newly built carrier in SZ110 not matter?

-  The UK can now launch an air attack on SZ113 with 1 or 2 fighters (depending on if a destroyer was also built in SZ113) and kill the entire transport fleet along with any hopes of a G2 operation Sealion.
-  Depending on any surviving UK naval unit it can also launch an additional attack on either the damaged (?) battleship or the lonely cruiser with the remaining fighter in the UK and 1 or more destroyers.
-  Finally the main attack on the Italian fleet can still go ahead as planned … and depending on G2 builds, the air units used can fly back to the UK the following round to assist against a possible G3 Sealion.

… all that for the cost of one carrier? Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

It is correct except UK can still attack 1 BB, 1 CV and my 2 Fighters with 4 planes. The CV build stops that. It is necessary. MY APs are placed with the CV and protected.
