It was a tough call that led to the loss of Japan.
I was forced to decide whether or not to take a shot at freeing up the island now, while the odds for the naval battle were still about even, or dying a slow death by economic starvation… the dice were not with me in SZ 6, however.
I had a chance to take out 3x transports + 1x artillery for free off of Hawaii, or to better my odds for a decisive blow off the home islands; I see now that a sure kill is always preferable to a dice battle, regardless of the stakes.
Hats off to you, for capitalizing on my fatal miscalculation!
