Generally pacific builds consists of a 2 to 1 ratio of subs-destroyer. Following turn is 5-6 bombers. This forces Japan to start building fleet instead of troops for India/China crush.
I just had to give som additional thumbs up fo9r this comment :D Buying other combat ships than subs, dds (Or CW + ftrs) is rarely correct. the 2 to 1 ratio shos that sean knows how fodder works and how it is the most important thing in these battles.
The only reason to stop buying the subs is if japan for some reason dont respond with fleetbuilding and only buys planes instead. But then you should win anyways :D
which is why i said that it didn’t work against a too planeheavy japan. on theory, the DDs + other surface ships ofc needs to be enough to stop all the planes of japan + 2 rounds of plane only builds of japan.
What would prevent japan from attacking your fleet of subs-destroyers with air and a few destroyers. With 20+ planes they can whipe out your whole fleet with minimal losses as subs cant even hit the planes.
I normaly go for a carrier heavy fleet followed by subs destroyers for attacking power. Ideally i want my carriers to bait an early attack from japan that i can crush in the counter and get his carriers and BB out of the way so anzac and UKP can clean up the rest.
Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
-
Victory conditions. Say Japan takes their sixth victory city during their turn. Game is won when? At the end of Japans turn or at the beginning of Japans next turn if they still have all six cities?
-
At the end of their next turn.
In the intervening time , they cannot drop down to five VP Cities or they will not win. -
A question about the Russian-Japan pact. Turn 1 japan attacks Amur thus nullifying the treaty Japan also attacked the Mongolian territory with 2 Inf on it. Can you do this and not trigger the neutral rules since it states that after the Japanese combat movement phase those Mongolian territories place Russian troops there if Amur is attacked?
You are correct. Japan can NOT attack Amur and any Mongolian territory in the same turn without making all the true neutrals in the world go pro-Allies

2nd Edition says: Mongolia will only become pro-Axis if attacked by the USSR.
So if the UK attacks Mongolia, Mongolia does nothing? Just sits there even if such an attack flips all the other neutrals?
I looked at the FAQ and I didn’t see a clarification.
-
Karl, I’ve never heard anything different. AFAIK when the rule book says Mongolia will only become pro-Axis if attacked directly by USSR, that’s what it means.
If any other Ally attacks a Mongolian territory, the rest of the Mongolian territories will not go pro-Axis. Because they were friendly to Russia? I don’t know, but that’s how the rule book reads, so unless Krieghund comes on here and says different, than you are correct. If UK attacks Mongolia, the rest of the Mongolian territories will stand pat, and all other strict neutrals in the world will go pro-Axis if that hasn’t happened already.

that is bizarre even if it is the rule

I know
Add it to the list of all the other bizarre rules

Italy DOW Russia and takes E Poland with a tank in I2
Germany moves it’s stack to E Poland without DOW Russians in G3.
Can Russia keep a peace with Germany and attack the Italian tank ignoring German units in E Pol in R3?
If so, and if Russia takes E Pol back sharing the territory with the German units, what rules are applied to German troops in E Pol in G4? Particularly can the E Pol units attack Bel or they have to battle in E Pol or go back to Ger?
Thanks for a help with this one. -
It is only at sea that you can ignore the units of powers with which you are not at war
On land, YOU CAN NEVER ATTACK a territory that contains a single unit of a power with which you are not at war.
In your example, Russia is not allowed to attack East Poland without declaring war on Germany because German units are in East Poland.Note that Triple A does not always properly observe this rule.

UK offload inf from USA transport and attack Germany land. Germany scramble 3 fig. The USA transport is not protected by any attacking force. What’s the result? The scramble stops the amphibious attack or what?

Right. Krieghund has specifically stated that in this situation the UK would be unable to assault unless you have UK surface warships and/or aircraft that can fight the scrambled German fighters.
If you have no UK surface warships or aircraft and Germany scrambles, then the landing is not allowed and no fighting takes place - no units are destroyed. -

Any time, Q!

One clarification please.
If axis don’t attack USA in R3, can USA player declare war in his R3 or must he wait til R4?
I thought USA can declare war, but i see in post here that people talk about USA declaring war in R4 so I’m puzzled. -
Crobattalion: the US can declare war in the Collect Income phase of its third turn, not the beginning of its Combat Round, like all other nations do.
This means it cannot do anything agressive in its third turn: the movement restrictions are still in place. -
ok, thank you

Forgot something
If Russia attacks Korea does that change the mongolian situation?
-
@Cow:

If Russia attacks Korea does that change the mongolian situation?
if russia attacks korea then it cancels the mongolia russia pact.

which means the japanese can then attack russian territories bordering mongolia without the mongolians joining the russians. :-)
-
Yes
Korea was added with the 2nd edition (was not even in Alpha3) to territories Russia could not attack without losing the Mongolians.Assuming you mean Japan has not invaded a Russian territory bordering Mongolia yet.
