• I was thinking that this would be a great year to start giving out prizes for the league. I was also thinking that it should be the biggest prize pool of the year and everybody should be a winner (as long as you finish x number of games). If you won zero games, it would just mean that you pick your prize last.

What do you think? I’m especially looking for feedback from potential prize donors: HBG, FMG, IWNGU, Litko (I’ll contact them directly).

It’s a great idea.  HBG is open to that kind of thing, it usually results in you win a few -bucks- at his site, but you’re still on your own for the shipping.

That works for everybody, because if you’re going to pay the shipping anyways, you might as well order a few other things you want.  Win, Win, Win.

That said, I wanted to sponsor a few -Battle of the elites- style games,  where the winner gets $5 or $10, but everyone else gets to watch a BAD-A$$ game.  Call it Garg T.V., I’d pay for it out of pocket (A few games a year), or work in conjunction with a sponsor so long as it’s beneficial to them, just to grow the site/league/community/fun.

It would be a great log for beginners to watch too, as they can see how the pro’s play.  And as a community, we can settle some old scores - hahaha!

  • I love it.

  • I’m going to add a condition to prize eligibility. You must play a minimum number of games with TripleA. Since TripleA is the only app that works on all platforms, it ensures the maximum number of possible participants in the League.

I don’t care how TripleA gets used, just as long as you use it.

I’m thinking the minimum is 6 games. That puts you up against about 3 players.

  • If I can’t get enough prizes, we’ll just make this a raffle.

First and second place choose first. Then 1 raffle entry for each TripleA game you’ve played in the league with a minimum of 4 TripleA games to qualify.

Blech, guess I’m out forever.  I don’t like tripleA.  Not saying you cannot use it, or that you should agree and not like it, just saying, I do not personally like it for reasons of my own. (And you can go through any number of posts for the past 3 or 4 years at least, to see those reasons.)

  • The best way to make it better is for everybody to start using it and send feedback to the TripleA team, who frequents the forums.  :-D

Agreed.  I am very happy to ablige those who wish to use the program in leagues and tournaments (As well as for fun games) to their hearts content.  I choose not too - for personal reasons.

I once played someone with it, he used the program and I used battlemap.  It just required very detailed notes on what you did, and what I did.  So we could update our maps accordingly.  (Just recently played someone using TripleA and how it plugs into the house system here - just to see it - got shellacked more becuase of unfamiliarity with the program than strategic or tactical issues…)

    Anyway, as I said…

Jenn, tripleA is improving every day.  perhaps you should check in again rather than forever blacklist it…

It’s not forever blacklisted.  Veqrn claims to be producing a skin that will make it more like Battlemap, in which case, I may be more inclined to use it.  And I have a game going now with it.  It’s just not in my top 5 methods of playing. (Abattlemap, board game, email, telephone or snailmail, then comes tripleA)

  • would this be for anyone or do you have to have so meny wins under your belt
i have an ebay store and i would be willing to donate credit for prizes either way. i have all kinds of miniatures

  • TripleA

TripleA is superior to battlemaps in that it keeps track of movements, combat results etc for both players. You only need to check your emails to make sure the dice results match. The edit feature allows users to work through bugs, also veqryn is very good at programming out bugs which each update.

I hate opening up battle maps and trying to figure out all of japan’s 20 air unit movements to make sure everything is legit. Then it is too easy to accidently left click and all of a sudden one side has an extra unit or lost an extra unit.  It like everything is manually edited vs the program doing stuff for you.

Also people do not always type out all their movements so it is frustrating. Also I like triple a in that it lists all the stats out so I know how desperate I should or should not be.

As a result doing turns is much quicker with triple a. Also combat calculations is quicker, hit ctrl b over what you plan on defending or attacking with and put in possible units he can hit you with. you can even calculate two to three rounds in advance if you predict your opponents buys to maximize to do a particular attack or defense much quicker than using external websites etc.

Overall triplea is more convienant to use.

  • TripleA

It is a bit harder to get used to battlemap/forum.

For people who complain of dice. Dice in nature is random and spikey. In real life I lost whole fleets three times to the same 2 subs. 1 fighter sunk my dd carrier 2 fighter. I rolled 6/6 hits with aa guns. etc etc. Overtime your experience will level out, like real statistic math dictates.

    Preach it!

If this is seriously going to happen (which I presume might be the case if this is a sticky thread) I’d be willing to contribute some small donation to the prize pot.

  • 19 18 17 16 15

I like this idea and we could donate something like 5 bugs each player. My view is that prizes should be then splitted a lot so that many players get around their money back, some earn more, and some get less.

    In example:

    Gold medal: 1.000 bugs
    Silver: 300
    Bronze: 100
    100 10 bug prizes
    XXXX 3 bug prizes
    yyyyyyy 1 bug

    Cheers
