Today, the 11th November,  in 1839 the Virginia Military Institute was founded in Lexington, VA. Francis Smith was the first Superintendent.
VMI is known as the West Point of the South. Unlike West Point, graduates are not obliged to join the armed forces upon graduation.
In 1851 T.J. Jackson became a professor of Arithmetic and an Artillery instructor. Fifteen of its graduates became  Confederate Generals and many more Regimental Colonels. Rodes and Mahone are  probably the two most famous Civil War graduates(both Major Generals). In 1864 the cadets were called upon to fight at the battle of New Market(Southern Victory). VMI was later  damaged by Union forces.
George Marshall of WW2 fame, later a 5 Star General, was a graduate.

Looking forward to seeing Peking China, in ruins after the next great war.

Well, originally I was there for Infantry Training for the PA National Guard (11C, my local guard unit was Combat Support, to had to learn to fire 4-deuces).  But, my knees that had been patched  back together after I tore them up at USAFA failed again…

But, rather than let a perfectly good former Academy puke go to waste, and since they were shorthanded in my Bat, they turned me into a Unit Supply NCO and Unit Armorer.  Went from Trainee to Trainer overnight.  Went from Barracks to BEQ.  And spent a year wearing a “Follow Me” patch instead of my “Bloddy Bucket” until my med board finally was processed.

Yep… it SUCKED!  But I loved it :-D

Ugh, yea the med-board process SUCKS for trainees!  They tried to make me go that route, I told em unless they could guarentee me a 30% or more disability they could shove it up their rosey red buttocks!  Then they tried to Chapter 5-1-2 me (medboard without a voluntary subject) and I called my congresswoman (who, since I’m in IL is a democrat) and she stopped that cold.

Now I’m assigned to the IL Nat’l Guard as in their IT dept.  But hey, at least I don’t have to move!

As for my AC being “broken” in Georgia, it was not Rune.  There just wasn’t an AC there!  Silly army…like we all want to camp or something…sheesh!

10% want citizenship, 54% want land, that’s 64% total. That’s almost a super majority! Only 19% said that they would chose to leave. Please explain your position because I think the numbers say otherwise.

Plus, I wish to point out as an aside that the OFFICIAL reason that Isreal drove these people from their land 50+years ago and refuses to let them return is that they are not Jewish, and therefore they would dilute Jewish political power in Isreal (a so called democracy). I find it upsetting that the US strongly backs a country that so openly defies the most basic principles of democracy, and that we act disgusted when the Palestinians call for the destruction of a state that denies them citizenship based soley on their religion.

Israel did not drive these people out of their homes. I’m from Haifa, a city where the Jews and Arabs live in peace. The Arabs in Haifa are Arabs that havel ived there sicne before the war in 1948 and chose not to leave. They were immediately given full ctizienship and equal rights. You’re right though, Israel is a very discrimating country. I mean, how is it fair that the Israeli-Arabs do not have to attend the compulsory military service while every Jewish-Israeli does.

It’s such a great crime against democracy not to give citizenship to people who mostly left willingly in 1948. A census in Beirut after the refugees had come there found that over 60% had left without even seeing an Israeli soldier. I think the Syrian prime minister, Khaled al-Azam, Syrian Prime Minister in 1949, put it rather well in his memoirs, “We brought destruction upon the [Palestinian] refugees, by calling on them to
leave their homes.”

You need to have the Japanese expand into Asia ASAP. They must build IC’s in Asia to achieve this. Send armor into the Russian capital as quickly as you can…
