@seancb we also use a giant piece of plywood because any oval table we could find won’t fit the whole board. Its much better to have something under the board (or vinyl) because prevents the board from getting knocked or moved and has at least some sideboard area for piles of chips and drinks and extras. Still, we need dice pits and another area to put most of our stuff because the game is simply that yuge.

I actually think the US BB should start in SZ26 to give an incentive to this attack which was historically accurate too. Perhaps the cruiser too, but both of those take balance in the wrong direction.

I also missed the vote. I think a J4 is really good for a russia crush.

In a J4, you will build 3 mainland mIC, and pump out 9 mechs every round. China will fall fast, those troops can attack russia, and US will not be able to leave the US East Coast until US4, so the first possible landing in europe is on US5. That lets Germany produce alot more for the russian front and it means that south russia, cauc and the middle east should fall pretty nicely to the german hordes. It also means that Japan should be able to take most of east russia while prepearing for attacking everything on J4. That huge japanese land army is not that easy for UKP to stop.

Kwangsi is a 1 IPC territory … perhaps you meant Kiangsu (aka Shanghai) while he was thinking you meant Kwangtung (aka Hong Kong)

They reprinted global with new rules. They made it so the allies were not as screwed, but still pretty screwed. :)

I would wait a turn and build an IC in a useful place. If you build it in J1, then it will mostly be used against China and perhaps Russia. HK and Singapore are way better options. From Malaya you can be in India in one turn (with fleet), in Australia, all of DEI and back to Japan quite fast. Land units are also quite close to Burma road (Chinese lifeline).

So if you decide to attack the UK on J2 then I would build an IC on J3 in Malaya or Kwantung. If you are going to wait longer then China (and perhaps Russia) may become too much of a pain and you need to transport units to the mainland.

My next game as Japan I will attack UK on J2 in Malaya. It gives you +3, UK -3 and ANZAC NO lost. And it is arguably the best place for an IC. For the attack I need a lot of transports, because I also want to take most of the other prices, like the DEI island, Phillipines and/or Kwantung. This gives your economy a major boost and the UK loses a lot of IPC income. I would also prefer to take DEI island from the UK instead of the Dutch controlled islands. You can take those later and the UK islands work both ways (more for you, less for them).
