That calc gives the odds as only 22.9% … If you want to scrap the turn and do something different, that’s fine.
If you knew the actual odds, I doubt you would have attempted the attack, so it’s no problem.

If Japan scores 4 or more hits in round 1, then you can use the above OOL for the rest of the battle as well.
If Japan scores fewer than 4 hits in round 1, then the above OOL will only apply to round 1. In that case, round 2 OOL will depend on what Japan took as casualties in round 1 and how well the US rolled in round 1.
