You are aware that I can scramble 4 fighters to sz109? And if I choose instead to scramble 3 fighters to sz110 you could take a real beating there, too. And why are you risking aircraft against the French AA when you have more than enough ground units to take it without using aircraft?

As for France, I think the IPC’s saved in having one plane survive outweigh losing the plane. But, once again, we will see on that lol.

I guess my theory is, which will you choose to protect? The scramble rules changing from islands only to any coastal territory must have RADICALLY changed some things (at least, it seems).

Well, I’ve never played with the island only scramble rules but it does seem to favor Germany a bit since they can park a relatively small fleet in sz112 without fear that the UK will attack it.
I see what you’re getting at. I can take a large advantage in one battle or I can take a small advantage in 2 battles but it would risk a chance that the dice could go south and scrap a bunch of aircraft that I may need because Germany can afford to trade aircraft on a 1 for 1 basis but the UK can’t.
Still, in the interest of full disclosure, a lot of players tend to organize their G1 attacks so that a fighter or tac are available to make it down to Southern Italy in non-com. Without that third aircraft available to scramble, it makes the Italian BB in sz97 a juicy target for the UK.
OK. I think my best option is to scramble 3 fighters to sz1110 and let you have sz109.
