    I noticed that you put a mech inf/arm in Turkmenistan. Russia can’t unlock Allied-friendly neutrals until they are at war with Germany or go into China unless they are at war with Japan.

    Hi there!  I’m in the middle of a movie, but during this break I wanted to say that on my map Turkmenistan is red and part of the USSR?  Hence, I was just moving to my own territory.  Triple A actually wouldn’t have let me do otherwise, believe it or not….

    You know, now I’m really starting to get a bit frustrated….

    I rolled 2 twos on defense with my interceptors, but it didn’t count either as a hit.  The original Europe AND Pacific rules state that 2 or less hits.

    So seeing that neither counted, then, I had to of course look through the Harris Game Design website for the Alpha +3 rules, and it says that they now only hit on a one unless they are jets…

    ARGH

    I would never have sent them up if they only hit on a one or less – that would have been stupid (and indeed was stupid).  At least I only lost one fighter, but for crying out loud… 80 pages of rules is getting to be a bit much…

    Is there a simplified, ONE VERSION of the rules IN TOTAL anywhere to be found?  :)

    Well, you were going to see it eventually, I figured you might as well see it now when it doesn’t count.

    If you noticed, the Allies start with a rather large income advantage, which never really goes away, so there had to be a way for the Axis to make some gains. The way that happens is that the UK is hamstrung for quite a few rounds in the game. You have to tiptoe around the Japanese fleet in the Pacific and Germany in the Atlantic. The only place you can be more than passive is against Italy and that requires sacking the Med fleet to destroy as much of Italy’s fleet as possible which only delay’s the inevitable waves of ground units that start coming later against Egypt and Africa. Otherwise, it’s retreat there, as well.

    Being aggressive with the UK early results in leaving yourself open to a Sealion invasion so you have no choice but to build stacks of ground units, like I did in our other game, and wait until Germany spends the huge sums of money they gained in G1(assuming they take France, of course  :-D) before you can start building for attacking Germany. And even then, it’s usually in Canada where your naval units get built because of Germany’s massive air threat. Plus, you also have to divert some money to the South African IC to prevent the Italians from quickly overrunning Africa. But, again, that usually comes after G2 because Sealion is a very real threat even with a mildy poor G1.

    Yeah, I was kind of curious about that since I had the numbers advantage against your aircraft. At the very least, tac bombers shouldn’t get an defense against scrambled fighters.

    You can replace the French fighter if you want, I wouldn’t have scrambled either.

    Not that I know of. That would be too convenient.

    Oh, no worries about the one fighter… it is a “learning experience” lol.

    Okay, so the fundamental structure of the game then is for a sea-lion event of sorts to be able to happen.  Then that also probably means that it is survivable I would assume.  At least in some instances.  ;)

    So, I’m really going to have to wrap my head around strategic bombing in my spare time as far as defense is concerned.  A 2 defense was tenable – a one defense is strange.  In fact, to think that a strategic bomber going on a bombing mission has a big of chance at winning an air battle as a fighter is indeed quite strange…

    I’m still having a lot of fun tho!  I just hope I have seen most of the opening and rules “surprises”.  :)
