I had a look at the pictures, courtesy of Djensen:

And one thing really stood out for me. Why is the map so distorted?
The northern part of the north hemisphere is enlarged to an extreme degree. Except that it is not constant in any way.
Compare Alaska to Greenland for example, or Alaska to Scandinavia.
While the south part of the southern hemisphere is shrunk and downsized. But again, it is not constant. India is shrunk to an incredible degree, while Saudi Arabia seems to have gotten bigger, despite them being at the same parallel.
South America has some weird tilt going on, making it look drunk.
Africa looks completely wrong. As if we were looking at Africa through some sort of distorting mirror at a circus.
China has been squeezed vertically, and does not look even remotely close to what China really looks like. The whole Asian coast line is completely F-ed up beyond recognition.
The Balkans seems to have fattened up as well, for no apparent reason since the other territories surrounding it don’t seem to have changed size that much.
In short, the map is incredibly ugly.
Why can’t they just use a Robinson projection, or something similar to that?
