  • All apologies for the number of edits - everything was above board, but needed to happen. I’m not used to this platform yet - still thinking in terms of ABattlemap and all the editing usually done.

The chance of this game continuing is very slim - I’ll talk to Antholin and get his thoughts. Britain and Russia together can’t sustain continuous extra losses combined with below odds Axis losses. Our chance in this game came down to Russia holding the line for a few turns, and Romania may have been our Waterloo!

Please give us a chance to discuss before Japan’s turn, so nobody has to waste their time.

Just reviewed that Romania battle….just one word : OUCH !!!..Hideous result for Russia.
Sorry about that luck we’re having there.

POMME WILL NOT POST HIS TURN BEFORE TOMORROW EVENING SO YOU GET THE CHANCE TO DISCUSS AS YOU WANT.

  • Axisplaya - thanks for saying so - by odds it was to be taken with an armor, which of course meant everything in this game. Losing the aircraft on top of it all was a mortal wound. As you know, if London falls, Russia has to make Germany pay long enough to get the other Allies into play. But in this one, Britain bleeds as well.

Team Imhotep has played extremely well, and Team The Headless Neds has played average - we didn’t make the requisite sacrifices to the Dice Gods, etc…  :-D  But if we don’t surrender… we expect a couple of big bloody battles to go our way!

    • Stalingradski of The Headless Neds

  • The Headless Neds lay our swords at your feet. The victory belongs to Team Imhotep! It is deserved - you collectively made great choices, sound moves, and deserved the win.

We have an offer - since it’ll likely be awhile until your second round game, would your team be open to another game against us, but played outside of the tournament? Same rules, same platform, same people? The game can be run in the normal game threads, if you guys are interested. Our team is intersted in working out the communication & platform kinks, since we’re all ABattlemap people.

    What say you?

Again - congratulations on the win.

    Review of the game :

    List of Allies bad luck:

    –Eth UK1
    –sz106 UK1
–Taranto cost 1 too many plane UK1
    –Yunan India 2
    –Rom R3

    List of Axis bad luck:

–Sze J2 cost 1 too many plane
    –Epl G3 cost 1 plane

If we just look at Rom, no need to be a genius to understand Allies got very rough dices.

If i may, in case you want to know: i think your team has done only 1 mistake in this game. After taking out of UK 1 mec, planes for Taranto and having no reinforcement from Canada at all, putting 3 land units in Saf instead of UK was just too much. It is exactly that which made me decide for Sealion instead of Barbarossa.

Now, in case you want to continue this game, i must warn you :  My team is NOT to take the rest of this game lightly. Quite the oposite actually : we’ll take extra care of every move, and fight as efficiently as we can because we know that nothing is more dangerous than a wounded animal !

Okay, had already typed my post before i saw your surrender.

    Thanks for your fair play.

Team Imhotep accept gladly a friendly rematch against The Headless Neds !

Will open a thread tonight, and this time, Septimus will handle Germany !

  • Axisplaya - yes to what you said about S Africa - we recognized it immediately and hoped for the best. It was somewhat of a reaction to the Great Ethiopian Debacle of 1940, but that is not an excuse.

We had other, smaller errors here there and everywhere, but they added up. Overall we were average in our approach - in the game of football you try to hold onto the ball, and then when you do cough it up, you try to pounce on it and hope your opponent doesn’t react quick enough. In this game, our mistakes were seen and exploited very quickly. The dice were only part of the story.

We will improve - it was a good wake up call for us to be professional and thorough in our approach. The dice gods just might reward us if we are  :-)

Looking forward to playing against you guys again -

  • Allies, if it makes you feel any better I have had some very rough dice in my game as well.

    • Taranto cleared with just 1 fighter after sending everything but the kitchen sink
    • Italian dd/trn survived against cruiser(I went light, choosing instead to send the fighter that lived against taranto)
    • China losing fighter turn 1
    • Rolling only 2 D hits against J2 DOW out of a possible 16 rolls

I’ve had some good battles along the way, but rds 1-2 were so bad for the allies that rule #7 was invoked to add a French bb at the tip of S. America. Oh and I too was sealioned as well. Best of luck to both teams in the rest of the tourney.

  • Seth - ouch! French Battleships all around!

Infrastructure and I play with a nice modified low luck variant in our games - you get some automatic hits, yes, but still roll plenty of dice. Our games tend to last longer because of it (15-20 + turns until someone calls uncle is pretty typical)… and it leads to less A&A-related depression. It would be hard to use in this setting - straight low luck (only LL option in this platform) is for the birds - dice should matter.

Straight dice leads to quicker games, which can be a good thing in a tournament setting.

  • TripleA

I would like to say that if you are going to quit after UK falls, you may as well have had russia in east poland regardless of the odds. that way when uk falls you can at least make a push for rome with russia, germany will  have to attack that and if he fails it will be VERY FUNNY.

  • TripleA

also you quit before japan even entered war.

russia can take manchuria which is funny, if he counter attacks that he will most likely have to pull xports and not take cash islands.

allies are still in this, but they have to do some desperate moves. Why quit when there is still some gamble left?

  • TripleA

J3 DOW is really bad, you have to take advantage of the pacific situation, allies can still pull this off.  Hell I might even go for a usa convoy on japan waters if ruskies put 1 inf on korea. Japan will have to catchup on too much late homework to get the task done. J3 DOW is really bad, allies can just shove everything at japan and hope for the best, why the heck not?

So what if germany is strong, take your chances in the pacific, spend all your dough to liberate uk quickly then go full pacific.

I still feel you guys rolled over too soon. A couple desperate moves can turn this game around big.

    @Cow:

So what if germany is strong, take your chances in the pacific, spend all your dough to liberate uk quickly then go full pacific.

excuse me but…are you on drugs ??

Almost all the content of your 3 last posts in this thread is pure and total BS…

  • TripleA

Is it? I don’t see why quit before the pacific even got rolling. Also russia should have been in east poland, but that is in the past. Russia can take manchuria and korea this round, japan does not have an airbase, if enough infantry survive say 11 inf japan would have to use transports to take it back and forgo a couple islands this round. USA is in hawaii… may as well push to japan waters especially if korea is russian, you can move the ships non combat and kill small fleets with air units, if not head to queensland.

There is no reason to quit, when you can be hyper aggressive and take a few chances. At least you would go out like a champ, it is called ball till you fall. If you feel you lost early in the game, just go nuts, you will be surprised how many times you can win doing this.

J3 declaration is really bad, if you disagree you are bad.

  • TripleA

In anycase I couldn’t go out like this man, not with this many units left on the board. I would just shove everything at the axis roll some dice clankity clank and have fun then quit, if it means taking 10% odds then take it, 10% is better odds than the state lotto, LOL. Just think of all those times you see on TV a guy is all in on the flop and his opponent hits him with a river. It is what it is, this is a dice game, shooka shooka.
