XDAP-01 Creature Commandos (Axis) vs. Team BoldDutch (Allies)

  • The Players:

    Make_It_Round = Germany

    ghr2 = Japan

    gazza = Italy

Still debating the finer points of our grand strategy… but I feel we’re close to consensus.

Also, this is my first time to kick off a TripleA game; do I need all of your email addresses to give to the dice server?

Any helpful tips for setting up which could speed things along would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    MIR

  • Tested dice server. Success!

Now who should I be cc-ing the results to on the other team?

Also: where is the 5-digit topic ID located, so I can throw a test post down on this forum?

Finally, remember Garg… He who LOLZ last LOLZ hardest!

Glad to have you aboard MIR.  I think the topic number ID 27295.

Will get you the email addresses as soon as I get Bold’s

I think one of the tips for making it play better on Triple A is that the person doing their turn must keep Triple A open while they are awaiting the response of an opponent, i.e. OOL (defending bombers, ACs, subs, etc.), or scrambling.  So, depending on how you ususally operate your computer, this could cause a logistical problem.  You start the turn, if you get to a point where you nned to ask a question of the opponent, just minimize the Triple A application, post a question on the board, and hopefully a response will be quick, then the player continues witht he Triple A application.

  • Thanks Dutch.

So, basically I’ll be opening a version of the game that reads WW2: Global 40 Alpha 3, correct?

I’m still trying to find version 2.8 of that… working with 2.6 at the moment, even though I just downloaded the freshest version of TripleA. Any advice?

But we will be playing by Alpha 3.9 rules, as I understand it…

Is there anywhere where the differences between the 3.0 & 3.9 rulesets are clearly laid out?

Last question of this post: Do you guys want to play with tech?

You can actually SAVE a tripleA game anytime, at any point, even mid battle.  Then just upload the file here like you would a regular battlemap game.

Go here, I think it’s the 3rd post down or so…

Also, TECH isn’t all working yet, so the tech currently available on TripleA is the tech from AA50,  and doesn’t work the best for global. :P  I would aviod it until this is updated.

  • Thanks Garg.

I’ve got my TripleA Global 40 version updated to 2.8 now.

Ready to roll out my G1, as soon as I get everyone’s email addresses…

BTW: Do I mail out the results to everyone, or just the player whose pieces I’m attacking?

    Looking forward to getting started,

    MIR

    Bold’s is: kirkwag@hotmail.com. mine is legalstore@hotmail.com, for gaming anyway…

When u go to post a turn, u enter in everyones email. Then when u save the file before u post it will automatically save everyone’s email as part of the file. So there should be only the need to enter it once by the German player. If you have any issues I can start the map, post it and then you can save it and “load saved game”.

  • Does it have to be e-mail?  cant you just upload the saved file to the forums and we download it?

  • Thanks Dutch.

Just waiting for ghr2’s email addy, and then we’ll be ready to go (assuming that everyone’s registered with the dice server).

I’ll try to launch the game myself (need the experience, frankly), but if there’s any problem I’ll ask you for your help straight off.

By the way, have you two chosen which Allied powers you’ll each be controlling yet? Please let us know, if so.

    Best regards,

    MIR

  • Tested dice server, getting the following error message:

    “Error: email  has wrong format”

Nothing seems to be wrong with your email addresses, and I’ve already tested this successfully with Gazza & my emails.

I am separating each address with one space, as instructed by the program.

Maybe the problem stems from trying to send to multiple recipients?

    Please advise,

    MIR

  • Each of your emails work separately… Must be the a problem with multiple recipients.

  • Whatever, I’m just going to get started. Dutch, you’re going to receive the dice results for your team. Cool?

  • G1
    SZ 111:

    Germans: 1 tac, 1 fig, 1 bom, 2 subs

    SZ 110:

    Germans: 3 tacs, 3 figs, 1 bom, 1 sub

    UK player: Scramble? OOL?

OOL for Battle of France (multinational defense)?

  • '12

dutch, i’ll defer to you on these decisions…

  • '10

I’ll try to fix it when i get the map.

I can post from my razr, but i can’t see the map. Will post in a couple hours when i get to my laptop.

  • '10

    MIR,

Post the map so I can see all the battle moves.  Like Garg said, you can save Triple A at any point, so if you stop to ask OOL or scramble, post the map with it so we can see what’s going on to make the decision.

  • Unfortunately I pressed ‘end combat move’ and now there’s a dialogue box open asking for scramble answers.

I can’t save while that dialogue box is open, I’ve tried. In the future I’ll be sure to save before ending my combat move.

For the moment, however, if you want the file it seems like the only thing I can do is to restart the game and then save it for you.

We can surely do that, it’s up to you. But I’ve given you the numbers of attackers I’m sending, and your defenders are as per set-up. So you might be able to figure out your likely response from past games.

P.S.: Still having trouble sending dice results to multiple parties, so I’ve assigned Dutch & I as team recipients of dice rolls from server.

Well, it matters in decision making like this to see what you purchased and where all the other aircraft are going.  For example, I may be more or less likely to throw Allied aircraft away if the Germans purchased naval vessels, or if an AC was built to catch certain aircraft sortied in combat.  Even if I was inclined to scramble, seeing a weak zone 112 following the German turn mught cause me to keep the ftrs grounded.

Essentially the same thing for OOL in Paris.  If you have 98% chance of taking it with what you brought, then it will be simply cheapest unit dies first.  If it is more like a 60% - 70%, then, then which nationality survives if the dice go the French’s way might actually matter.  So, seeing what load you are bringing is important.

I know it’s a pain in the arse, but I really do need to see what is going on to execute the decisions. So, you can either type up the purchases and combat moves here and I’ll recreate them on my own Triple A board, or you can start the German turn from scratch with a new board and save before you click “done” on the combat moves and just post the file here.
