What's a marine?

How is it different from infantry? I must have played an older version of Axis and Allies since there were no marines when I played. I haven’t played in years.

a marine is an infantry unit (this is a varient rule) that attacks at 2 instead of 1 and can only be done during an amphibous assult and they only last one round

Under Iron Blitz, the marines attack at 3 in a amphibious assualt, lasting for the entire turn of combat.
