FYI
Great War (triplea) operates under “A&A Revised” rules as far as I can tell.
The Convoy Zones operate using “A&A Europe” rules (the original europe), meaning that:
1. enemy convoy zones can only be moved into during combat move phase
2. you can move through owned or friendly convoy zones during non-combat move (including ones you just conquered)
3. only the original owner of the convoy zone collects income from them. if the convoy zone is taken by an enemy, the enemy does not collect income.
In other words, convoy zones can only be “denied”, never “conquered”. Those merchant ships go to the bottom of the ocean, they don’t switch sides.

So, if the US cannot declare war until round 10, does that mean she cannot enter convoy zones and cannot be attacked?
Hey,
Do you remember the Lucitania? German U-boats shot up American convoys on a few occassions, so in alot of sense, a state of war already existed.
I DO NOT belive you are trapped by the convoys, and I believe for all intensive purposes, your units can fully engage mine happily.
I believe the premise of the territory “USA DECLARES WAR” Is that it is there - as a “Jumping off point” of basically, the USA Geared up for war, and now they are in it for real.
My understanding - also is that I can’t take that territory - until you have taken it. And I believe the 10 infantry you fight there, kind of represent the domestic resistance at home - preventing us involvement in the war.
Let’s keep in mind, that the USA didn’t show up until 1917.
So in short.
-Do whatever you’ve got to do, to get units to conquer that USA DECLARES WAR Factory Territory as quickly as possible, because we’re basically already AT war.

Ok so a few more things…
I don’t think Subs can hit air. (Though I haven’t checked/confirmed) And NOTHING can stop them from Submerging (AFTER they have rolled their first dice). Passing under enemy navies, or thier surprise attack.
So if you send 10 planes at a sub… like in the old days, the planes get to roll for one round, and remaining subs get to submerge.
Also, SZ45 this turn - after some thought has me in a moral dilemma!
My Sub + Cru attacked your Dst Sub Cru in Sz45.
My Sub HIT the first round. I selected YOUR SUB as the casualties, becuase it will still get a defensive roll, as opposed to your destroyer - which would then be destroyed by surprise attack.
Your Sub Missed,
Then my cruiser hit. And your Dst/Crui missed.
My sub finished your cruiser off after that.
What I screwed up however, is I ASSUMED you would go for the best dice defense, when in reality, you had the CHOICE to cap your destroyer instead, so that the OPTION of submerging was still available to you. I apologize. And we’ll have to be careful with sub battles in the future (Because LOTS of times I’d rather have subs for surprise strike, than cruisers in this version).
If you feel slighted, but a french sub on the board in Sz45, if you would have gone for the best dice defense, well - thank you for being honest :).

Also, I made an error in Sz6. I am damn certain I moved my subs to Sz10… but for whatever reason, I must have uncliked the move :S
