Do any of you have any recommendations for a book on Orde Charles Wingate?

It seems mines in general are usually overlooked in WW2 History.  Not only were mines a danger to U-boats, much of the Allied shipping losses in the first 3 years of the war were attributed to mines.

A more realistic distance is over 800 statute miles.

Zero had a range of 1,600 miles, so yes thats consistent with Sakai’s account over Java.

Also, they had over 400 Zeros in active service by July 1940.

I really liked Army at Dawn, still haven’t read Day of Battle but will eventually.

I wonder how many other tanks are still out there…well, under there in Europe and Russia. There were many tank battles and with the marshes in Russia, if a tank got in, it was definitely hard to get out.

Blah, Blah. Come on, they find the nazi-treasure every other season. You get used to that kind of message here in Austria. I think, there is not a single alpine lake left here where you can NOT dive for the gold. In fact, I do not believe the famous treasure even exists. You know, they did spend all the stolen wealth as well as the “regular” tax money to finance a big war …
