Can a Fighter attack a submarine thats stand alone??

The FIGs (and BOMs) go where the land units go… BACk one space.

Page 18 of the 2nd Ed manual is explicit and emphasizes “ALL” attacking units in all caps.

I don’t bother taking Hawaii on J1, it is only 1 ipc and slows down the necessary Jap push in Asia. A smart US player will ignore this, and the possibility of Jap strat bombing the west coast isn’t too great a concern until much later in the game (when the game should already be decided). A smart Jap player will be better off strat bombing USSR - becasue the bomber(s) will be in position to assist other endeavers such as a possible capture of Moscow. However, if I am trying for economic victory as the Axis, I will likely take it (perhaps turn 7).

One rule says that you can move a planes max movement and ignore landing……

I still believe that using Russia’s fighters to destroy the German Battleship and transport in Southern Italy is the best start in keepin Germany off of the water. It is difficult enough for the UK to deal with the German Air Force when trying to build up sea units, however if Germany is completely off of the water then the UK can use the tatic of buying a carrier and one transport for their sea space. This of course must be followed by the USA complimenting the carrier with two fighters. Afterwards not even four fighters and a bomber from Germany will attempt to keep the UK off of the water. The risk of losing four fighters for Germany is too great.

Therefore, it seems natural, to me, to use the fighters to start the movement to keep Germany off of the water and out of Africa. Let me know what you think.

I agree that it is foolish to buy anything other than infantry for some time, but I do like to strafe at the begining of the game; it allows me (Russia) to have some control over the front. Not feeling in control is probably one of my worst enemies.

You need to destroy the Hawaii fleet to keep your back free. Its too much for japan to fight both fronts, thus i feel its better to take out Hawaii instantly.
I play with RR, and Japan has no trouble taking the Pacific.

But i guess its all relative.

Although yes maybe it is a bit radical i think that if properly done it will work.This is also a strategy that can be asisted by your Japanesse allies.
