Quick rule question

Ah never mind my previous comments, Kriegshund has it correct. There’s a special rule just for this scenario:

“An attacking land unit can assault a coastal territory
from an ally’s transport, but only on the turn of
the attacking land unit’s owner.  All of the normal
requirements for transports offloading in a sea
zone must still be met by the attacking power (see
“Special Combat Movement, Transports”, page 16),
and any scrambled air units will prevent the landing
if they cannot be destroyed”

On page 16 it permits a scramble to resist amphibious attacks:

“They can also be scrambled to resist amphibious
assaults from adjacent sea zones”

Politicians need more time than soldiers. The friendly neutral is expecting a formal delegation to pay a visit, not someone in a tank dashing by and waving “Hi! You’re with us now!”

But I agree that in the game, it’s a bit odd.

Fun aside, I agree with you, it is a bit odd.

As for G42 it is geared toward tournament play, but it could be used as a way to teach Global more quickly. I like the idea of having nations like France having a role in WWII, but G42 short cuts much of the tedious wait because all the players are at war. It is a quickened version of G40, but it’s also a good alternative for players who need a shorter game session but like the complexity of Global.

I haven’t tried a F2F game yet but I would have an easier time getting a session in with the 42 set-up than Global. I also think G42 may pick up steam if it’s supported by the A&A community by and large due to the fact that we had five releases of the series less than than two years ago and won’t likey get another unless a second edition of 1914 is released.

I’ve been using Most Holy’s Research Fac. rules basically it’s what was listed above but each power can have 4 not 3.

Sending a strategic bomber and/or a tac bomber to bomb airfields to prevent a scramble that may or maynot happen, really spreads the Luftwaffe thin in a turn where there are a lot of must have battles going on for Germany. I recently accomplished sea lion without attacking sea zone 110 in G1 and it gave me good odds everywhere that mattered without risking a single aircraft (much needed when the troops land in London).

House rule:  Submarines fire at 2 on defense if there is no enemy destroyer present…?

No. They are not part of the “Allies” until they join the war, so their are no countries friendly to them until they do, anyway.
