Sure!
Looking for Spring 1942 1v1
-
Hi there!
An old returning player…my last games were in high school and now wish to experience the game again. Can’t seem to get anybody interested in the real game nowadays with work and other responsibilities , so I’ve showed up at the forums.
I’ve never played by forum before, but I’ve done some reading up. Forgive me if my syntax is all wrong and I ‘misroll’ dice. Would anyone like a game of 1942 with me please, and break in this forum beginner? :-)
All rules (standard and optional) in the rulebook apply. I can play axis or allies, only preference is to go 2nd so I can see how you post and emulate.
I’m using my own physical board to track things, before I venture into the software tools most people seem to be using.

Sigh…quiet forum, or unpopular game version? :-(

Hey Gambit. The spring 42 version doesn’t get played nearly as much as I would like, it’s the only version I play. I recommend you review this thread:
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=23625.0It should show oldest post at the top, scroll down a few to my post dated: October 05, 2011, 12:21:53 pm There is a link to the battlemap mapping software utility which has 33 different maps including one for chess. You pass a map file back and forth via forum to show your moves and play the game. I also explain how you use the forum to roll dice. It’s explained many times on this site but its not as easy to locate as it should be at times. That thread that I linked contains a debate on how the game is played by some rather skilled people. I learned much by reviewing the discussions and by reviewing games played on forum here. You can emulate the posting style that you like, that is what I did. You can download the maps turn by turn to get a feel for why the game played out the way it did.
I prefer the forum tempo, but if you want a more real time experience I would suggest a site called triplea http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki is where you would install that software.

Hi there Malachi!
Thanks for the advice…and wow that is a long thread to comb through (which I will, because it looks real interesting…)
I’m downloading the battlemap now. Think I will still set up my physical board alongside it, just to enjoy the view.
I will like forum tempo too (correspondence chess player), nice and slow. So TripleA is out for a while yet.
Now…how about a game, anyone? :-)

I’ll be glad to play! I have also never played, but I’ve watched a few games and seem to know how its done. If you use TripleA you don’t have to swap maps and all that stuff.
You up for a game? My schedule is also funny cause of school and stuff, but I will be able to play whenever i get the chance…Beginners together :-P
Just let me know!

Awesome! Yay! I was starting to lose hope and pack away the board.
Wonderful to have the opportunity to learn together…I would hate to screw up a veteran’s game haha…
Let me get either TripleA or battlemap sorted out tonight and launch a game thread in the forum. I’ll let you know which one I’ve familiarised up on, if you let me dictate the preference please.
You can choose Axis or Allies!
-
All right. If you do battlemap then I’ll have to read up on that myself as well :) one preference- please send me the moves and and map file by email as well of we’re doing battle ap, because I can read my email at school, but not the forums here through the filter…frustrating :x
Thanks! I’ll be axis I guess…I’ve never played as Allies, but would like to at some point. However, as a first game I’ll be axis.
This will work nicely. I’m on the east coast and you’re in Europe, so time zones will stagger pretty evenly :-D
Thanks!

I think I got the hang of TripleA, and the map would be WWII v4?
As much as I’d like to use it, it appears to not incorporate the rule of strategic bomber escorts? I quite like that rule (smacks of realism to me…).
If that is true then I’d prefer battlemap if you don’t mind. I understand it to be just a illustrative map with no embedded rules. I’m happy to email you the moves and map file. I’ll post on the forum, then cut and paste the whole lot including the forum dice roller results. What do you think?

All right I’ll figure out battlemap tonight. If you want to be axis so we can get the game going, then by all means feel free!
