Looking for a Alpha 3 game using Battlemap…

Looking for a game of AAG40 Alpha +3. I’m in Asia, so there is some time difference. Not sure how bidding works exactly, but keen to try on triplea.

Sure Brado, but unsure as to where I can find battlemap to download. Can you point me in the right direction? I’m an experienced player, face to face, and up on all alpha 3.9 rules etc so I should pick battlemap up quickly with a few directions / hints. Thanks!

Will work on addressing my Battlemap knowledge gap, but in the meantime, any takers on triplea G40 Alpha 3+ game? I’ll even choose to be Allies ;)

It has all the instructions for downloading Battlemap. Create a folder somewhere titled, “Battlemap” First thing you need is the Battlemap zip file. The link is located about 1/2 down the page on the link I provided. Download this zip file into your Downloads folder. Unzip it into the Battlemap folder you created above. Create an shortcut on your desktop for Battlemap. Then, download the T40.gim folder into the same directory. Then open Battlemap from your desktop. Under the New drop down menu, you should see all of the different A&A games listed, i.e. A&A Global Alpha 2, A&A 50th Anniversary edition, AAP40, Global, the older A&A Europe, A&A Pacific and others. Pretty much every version of A&A ever created, plus other games like The World at War, Chess, Diplomacy, Eastern Front. Global Alpha 2 is listed under, “Axis & Allies : Global 1940 Alpha +2 Version 3.1” For the Alpha 3 map, I’ve attached it in this post. Download the file and put it under a different folder on your desktop titled, “A&A” , then create a different folder under that titled, “Alpha 3” Download the file to that folder. Then go to File, Open, select the attached file and you should see the Alpha 3 map. If you have any questions, let me know.

I, on the other hand, have a very empty schedule. My tourney game is on hold until the 17th when my partner gets back. I am looking for at least 3 games right now. Bid/no bid: don’t care. Tech: no. Pick your side if you want.

I’m interested in a league game or 2.  alpha 3.9, bid, nt, tripleA (latest is 1.61 engine, 3.1 map).  Pm if interested.

Anybody out there up for a G40 league game?  Looking to play Allies (my weaker side) but willing to bid, and battle map game.

Tripple A is great, but I hate the fact I can only see a tiny fraction of the map and have a hard time telling ship classes apart – has lead to many errors by me.

Karl, if you position the mouse pointer over the sea zone in question and press ctrl+b, TripleA opens up the battle calculator and within the battle calculator the sea zone in question automatically populates. If you scroll the mouse pointer over the pictures it tells you what unit type you’re looking at. It’s a useful tool if you’d like to make TripleA more friendly to use for those tricky naval units  :-)

Thanks Fortress.  I am sure I will have to learn.  TrippleA is the future, but like a Luddite I try to hold on to the past.

Karl, TripleA has also improved its resolution when you zoom out.  So now the map images remain reasonably crisp even if you zoom out to 50% (which on many maps will give you a fair amount of the map).

Then you can still use the “Territory Tab” to scan any and all territories & sea zones and the contents of the territories you cursor over will appear in the panel on the right hand side of the screen.
