G40 Tournament "News From the Front"

National Objectives - Yes
Technology Development - No
German Interdiction - Yes (German U-Boats do 3 Convoy Raid Damage instead of 2 CRD.)

YOU MUST WAIT FOR FRANCE TO MOVE BEFORE MOVING ON TO GERMANY!  The only exception to this rule is if France has no units on the board, regardless of proximity to any theater of operations.

Choosing Sides

You will be bidding for the Axis.
Full placement bids (which means no left over cash for use in your purchase units phase!).  
Standard bid rules apply (can only place bid in spots where you already have units, etc.)
You will bid in IPC, but you can spend the bid on units once bidding is completed.
Bidding will be done as a silent Auction.  Both players will Private Message Commander Jennifer with the bid locations they would like and I will notify them who won and what the winning bid was.

  Brackets will be assigned by random die roll.  As this is the first year of the Global 1940 tournament, there are no last years winners to pair up.  
  Edit:  In any game in which one of you is facing me, bids will be sent to Darth Maximus instead of myself.

The official start date will be Saturday, 3 September, 2011. Â

Threads will be started by the Axis player and should be titled: G40 Player(Axis) vs Player(Allies) to make the threads easier for moderators to find.

I happen to like the map naming convention created by Emperor Mollari on these boards (or at least, he was the one who taught it to me if he did not create it.)

I am not saying you have to use this convention, but I would appreciate it if you would.

Map inconsistencies are considered permanent upon your next action. (ie, if Japan forgot to update their money from 31 IPC to 45 IPC and the player bought units for Italy, then Japan only has 31 IPC to spend on their next turn.)  This rule is to protect your opponents.  It is often difficult for players to adequatly account for incorrect issues on the map.  Your errors cannot help you.  If you forget to switch a battleship to damaged, your opponent does not have to fire twice to sink it if he remembers it is damaged.

Please roll each combat seperately. Â

For one on one, to the death matches (ie Submarine vs Destroyer) it is okay to post “To the Death” and roll however many dice you like, assuming the first hit ends the battle.

  Moderator resolution of disputes are binding, even if Larry himself posts that the dispute was resolved incorrectly.

The first round was determined by entering all the players into Excel and using the data sort feature to alphebetize the participants.  I then used a random number generator, removing and shortening the list accordingly, to select who was playing who.

I will input which player is playing the allies and which is playing the axis as that determination is made.  I will also input the bid amount that “won” as agreed upon in the discussion thread.  Note: this is not classified information, your potential opponents would easily be able to open your threads and look to see what bid was placed.  I am not posting the losing bid.  Therefore, if you do want the allies desperately, you could bid 5 battleships in SZ 109 and no one would know you did so unless you won the bid.

Please email me with your game number and bid as soon as you can.

If I have not heard from your opponent by Sept. 6th I will assume they forfeit and bring you to the next round.  I would rather not do that, but I also cannot hold players up indefinitely waiting to know if they are playing a game or when it will start.  I’d like all games to be started no later than the 6th of September as well.
