By 1943 Russia had 2-5 times as many tanks as germany on every front. 2-10 times as many planes. 2-5 times as many artillery pieces, and 2-5 times as many infantry units. Remember Germany had to send 15-20 % against the allies in the west. Norway, france, Homeland Germany, Denmark, and other occupied states, while as Russia had nearly all of its forces Against Germany since Japan was NEVER going to attack russia after it had previous battles against Russia and saw it was hopeless as well as Japan had its hands full against the other Allies. This is just Russia VS. Germany. The allies (UK, Canada, and US) had 10 times as many tanks as Germany and 10 times as many aircraft. Japan was equally screwed. US built over 100 Carriers in WW2. Japan had a total in the 20’s, but never at one time due to battle losses. The US built over 1,300 warships. Japan could never have handled this. No matter what you say the Axis had about a 5% chance to win WW2. this only if Moscow would have gotten taken, but if you read military history you will see that this probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway seeing as how Russia moved its factories back into Siberal in the Ural mountains region. Germany never could have taken Russia due to Russia’s huge size as well as huge manpower advantage, industrial advantage, only one front to deal with, and the fact that their front lines were in Russia meaning tanks and airplanes could drive and fly strait into the battle off the assembly line. While as Germany’s front lines in 1942 were far from Germany’s industry. If the game was ever played to history allies would win 98 percent of the time with two equally skilled players IMO. This is why the game is made to recreate history sort of, while being playable so that both sides have an equal chance of winning.
Alpha 3 due next week

How are you seeing the increase in Allied AA units as a boon for the Axis?

Since they can only shoot 3 times, Germany can send a crap load of planes without the threat of a bad roll knocking out its entire Air Force.
-
I don’t know if its at the UK’s mercy. UK can’t possibly take it all out. And with that Strat Bomber Italy can do some damage to the UK fleet in I1.
No, but before, UK could only hit 1 fleet with 50% odds if Germany brought down 2 fhts. Now UK can hit 2 fleets and win comfortably in both.

I see your point, but I just don’t see this a HUGE change in the game play. I think it will make Italy work for its NO but not knock it out of the game. I would say Italy just needs to purchase a sub or Destroyer on its first turn.
-
As, I said, I’ll play it, but I have big doubts.
I have never seen Italy get back on its feet in a game where its fleet was decimated unless Sealion was performed. Sealion is now out, so I see this as bad.
This, plus detering Japan from attacking Russia with the Mongolian threat makes me think that the Axis best chance is now gone.

Pardon my ignorance, but I didn’t see the changes that take away Sealion. Please explain.

I was wondering that as well. I think he is referring to the 4 AA guns. I could see how this gives the UK 4 casualties to choose from but it also limits the amount of planes that can be shot at to 3. I think Sealion is still very much in the picture. Just my opinion though.

Now Russian can attack Germany on R3 if Sealion is successful. That leaves Germany VERY out of positon for at least 2 rounds… This is very discouraging for Germany.

The new french AAgun is a pain in the Axis ass, granted.
But the Axis has a lot of planes to start with, and the fact that a single AAgun doesn’t protect as much as before against a stack of planes must be good for the Axis in the early round. -
It’s the fact that London gets 4 free soak hits that kills Sealion.
4 AA guns can now shoot at 12 planes - more than Germany has - so the Luftwaffe is in just as much danger in a Sealion attack as before. -

OK, forget about what i said about new aagun rules good for axis.Still great for Japan against India, but that’s about all.

-
Yeah it does make the Paris battle just a bit harder and riskier to planes.

Agreed, an India crush is a little bit easier now, but other than that this change is pretty pro-Allies.

I overlooked that. When I saw that rule, I was thinking USA and that it was no change, but it’s Russia. Jeez. This is why I posted - thanks, Axis

He could have taken an infantry away from Paris. Jeez. The Axis needed help, not further roadblocks…

The 4 AAs on London can now be taken as casualties. Odds of success are now below 50% for Sealion.

Yeah, I see he didn’t take anything away, either. That does severely hamper Sealion, which opens up a lot of options for UK, which, yes, I agree is going the wrong direction as far as balance…. I guess we’ll just be bidding high for Axis to compensate.

Yeah, thanks Jim, the other guys beat you to the punch. I understand now - see previous post :-)

Gotta like the improvement to mech infantry for tech, though, right? Just upping the attack to 2 from 1 when paired with a tank was a joke. At least now they can blitz alone.

yup, that’s nice !
And about the 4 AAguns in UK, i guess, on top of the others Axis problems, we will now see much more scrambling on G1 in sz110 and 111.
