I created a rule deck, its very detailed, yet very easy to understand, things are broken down into simple stages. Even if you don’t print the deck, you can read it.

Oki. where to start then.

There is an old boardgames called “Axis and Allies”, its a boardgame reguarding WWII. There was a computergame created a few years back, but the game developers dint care jack sh*t about it. And it hade tons of errors, flaws and tons of buggs making the game crash and the developers dint really care 2 cents about fixing the problems with it.

So since its a really nice game and loved game among board game players, a community and a source game was developt from free working people almost 3 years ago. And its been going really nice, and sofar the game is far greater then the buyable game itself that the company released.

But now to the sad part, last week a sad e-mail came to the project. It was Hasbro who threathen to make a case of it and go to court with the matter if the source project was not taken down.

So at the moment we need to redo all the troop images, redo the entire map and alot of other work.

Actully relly sad that Hasbro is working against a community that actully is made because people love the game so much.
Most people who are in the community have prob bought at least 2 Axis and Allies products. And a online computergame will never be replaced by a computergame. (Dont start to debate this matter, make a new thread if that is what u want to talk about. )

Anyway…. now to the matter I needed help with.

so… now to what I might need help with. Im not 100% sure that Im actully posting this in the right place. I might get flamed for that… Or maybe I wont. We are all differnt people and I love you all.

Im trying to find a downloadable map of the entire world. (Pixel size dont really matter, Ill rezise it in photoshop later) Does not really have to be detailed, and by that I mean do not want information reguarding capital, land hight, population. It actully could be as simple as 2 colored. land/water.

I could always go around taking screenshots of the maps on google and then puzzle it together and then do tons of work in photoshop. But prefered not to, if there is a simpler way to solv it.

And my 2nd question is if anyone knows of a program or plugin that might help me simpefy a map if there are no maps like that anywhere to be found.

it honestly never occured to me to check out lite. Think i’ll do that.

But I assume you’ve played a lot of historical, so maybe you can tell me, does the russia, then axis, then allies, then axis & allies ad nauseum turn structure alter the gameplay in anyway, does it effect balance negatively?

I mean one of the major components of OOB A&A revised that is integral to strategy it seems is that something can be done on one powers turn that cannot be undone until anothers, or that something is pointless to do because it will be undone on the next powers turn, etc.

If say germany and japan go at once, does it open possibilities for unbalanced moves that are hard to counter?
Or conversely, on the allied turn, russia/india can be reinforced it seems to a greater extent before otherwise “normal” axis gains can be made (for example normally germany and japan will get to make a little progess before the US or UK can field units to help defend russia)

I will say again, that the revised historical map is superior in one vital way, to me, that other maps are not, and that is the ipc values for nuetrals and the increased number of victory cities, just having this on the map opens many new rules possibilities that can help break the monotonous mold of most games were the same moves are made over and over and the dice are largely the grand determiners of success.

Sure there are a great many more “gorgeous” maps out there, in terms of the color scheme, layout, addition of convoy zones and such, but most seem to lack the expanded IPC listings, the numerous victory cities, and yet still closely match the revised map enough for my tastes.

Generaly you can select casualties for your opponent (take infantry before artillery, artillery before tanks …)

If there is a question (attacking sub gets 1 hit on a defending transport and a sub), then save the game when it is your opponents turn to select casualties, exit the game, and mail the saved game file to your opponent (this works better in 0.8.2 than earlier versions).  Your opponent can open the saved game, select casualties, and continue the battle.

i dont know what your talkin about. i played as allies vs my friend who is very experienced and i won (wasnt easy tho)

u need to employ tactics man.

for example i made a raiding force, and built up like 6 bombers, and a strong navy, beat the japs out of phillipines and then built a factory there (dont worry if they did take it its not very useful to build there) and i kept strat bombing them (6 moves to japan and back to phillipines) and sending troops to sumatra, borneo, and the rest, until u have a decent invasion force, then its cake

jap player only got to 40 for one round in my game. be a coward in china, hold all your troops up in schechwan since rest of china is worthless and u cant attack to get korea or manchuria. build a good force of arty and infantry in india, hold back britains navy until its strong enough to severely damage the jap navy. use combat air patrols to protect your boats. watch for the strategically significant naval bases and airfields.

keep in mind tho no strategy is 100% in axis and allies. its like chess… on steroids… with luck involved!

I think Mr. Ghoul is correct. Furthermore it has come up that one might even exceed the number of stacks as there are units - some kind of addendum, i believe.

Unlimited IC factory in some places is great, like Brazil for instance. However, I think it’s pushing it by placing an unlim. IC in French West Africa since USA can reach it on their 1st-2nd turn. Maybe relocating it to Egypt would be a better as it gives the Germans the advantage of holding Africa a bit longer but at greater cost. Also placing an extra UK inf in Egypt might deter the Germans from taking until the 2nd turn. It’ll be a repeat of the great battle of El Alamein between Rommel and Montogomery. And this time maybe the Brits won’t outnumber the Germans at least 2 to 1.
