By the time she was done, I was too tired to come back to the cpu.

I was 80% done making decisions.  Maybe today during a free period or tonight I can finish it.

I’m thinking I’ll move fleet to 61, army to Fuk.
I was going to take Alaska, but am not sure about that now.  You can’t take it back immediately, but I’m not sure I want to go down to 2 transports and send ground units there, even though it would be a swing of 8 income….  still thinking about that

Can’t build fleet in 38, you have way too much aimed at it.  My 34 fleet is stranded.  I will probably have to move it to 33.

Japan is in trouble.  I feel like it’s “mate in 3” right now.  And it’s only round 4, so kudos to you.  As I said in PM, axis always wins in my experience with 6-8 NO’s per turn.  You’re getting me down to about 4 already, so I’m in trouble by that gauge.  However, I think your European theater strategy needs a lot of work based on the first four rounds of this one game.  You are putting the hurt on Japan so fast that I may not be able to make significant gains against Russia fast enough.

I think there’s a very good chance this game will be over before the league deadline.  Unless it’s reasonably close or if I am somehow ahead, I plan to resign before the 2011 season ends, because you need the game for qualification.  Not that it would be charity or anything like that!

Before I play 41 Axis again, I need to review this game and learn from it.
Can’t remember which game is which sometimes, but I think I recall getting set back big time by dice a few times…
Combination of big bid, some backfiring dice, and your skill has me in a pickle to say the least.
We should talk about the European theater once the game is over, though.

I think you are either
1)  Underestimating your own abilities (I see you racking up win after win)
2)  Trying to get me to underestimate you
3)  Fishing for compliments
4)  Just a nice, gracious person

Don’t take it as harsh criticism - I exhibit all 4 of these traits at one time or another!  :lol:

I’ve already learned some things from this game that I used in my tournament game - namely the use of Australia and India and American air in the South Pacific…
You didn’t teach me to leave 5 bombers almost unprotected in the Congo, though!  :lol:

Yes.  It’s one of the significant reasons I let FIC go.

You can change your move (even though you have me on the ropes in the Pacific theater  :-))  I always allow non-com changes as long as I’m not starting to work on my move, which I am not.  You can beat me 5 times in a row and I’d still be happy, because I think I’m in the driver’s seat in the 3rd round of the tournament!  Even though I’m LOSING 99% battles…  :roll:

Re-read your post….  Are you saying you want all Brit ground units to stay in Burma rather than nullify the Russian NO?  You didn’t mean Yun, did you?

What I’m saying is, I won’t move until you say exactly what you want to do and post your map, ok?  :-)

I wouldn’t consider it a trick, exactly…
There were several factors

1. Lose a transport
2. Lose ground units
3. Brits can move into FIC without penalizing Russia’s NO
4. Brits collect 2 extra from FIC

Only positive was gaining 7 IPC’s and preventing UK landing of aircraft in FIC if I took it.  And the way I’ve been rolling dice lately, nothing is a given.

So that’s it!  To beat you I need to pull out every trick in the rulebook!  Still probably too late for me!  :-)

One of the nuances of the game is the ability for an alliance to collect from the same territory more than once per turn while the other alliance collects only once.

Prime example - France

UK conquers France from Germany, collecting an additional 11 IPC’s.
Italy liberates France
USA conquers France (controlled by Germany, but with all Italian forces) and also collects 11 IPC’s.  The Bank of France is open!

It is possible for an alliance to collect from a territory 3 times per round, while the other side collects only once.

One of the dirtiest, nastiest moves is where you position fighters 4 spaces away from a zone that you can build a carrier in, and bait the other player to attack that zone.  You counterattack, build the necessary number of carriers to catch the fighters 4 spaces away if he takes the bait…  You can catch even veterans with this kind of tactic, especially when wrapping around the board at USA.  (Fighters in Z12 can attack Z56 even without carriers, if you build them on USA turn)

Here’s a nasty one that caught me about a year ago.  Bombers in WUS can strike Z13 and land in Gibraltar or Algeria.
The AA50 map has several “loopholes” or “wormholes” that you need to know.  Z34 (caught me in the JWW game when I lost 5 bombers because of it) Z38, and Z9 to Z12, and the West and East Canada loophole.  (Z9-12 and West - East Canada are both exploited with the bombers to Z13 move described above)

That’s it for now - gotta get my nap in before it’s time to go.  If JWW goes again today, I will be playing that move first tonight.  I’m looking forward to seeing his German move and doing my Russian move, but then it’s time for the dreaded Jap move…  But I foresee (don’t care if JWW reads this) taking over Europe and strongly holding Moscow and never really getting close to losing Moscow.  I hate facing 90-100% KGF’s as the Axis.  Every round is getting less fun for him as UK and US aircraft, carriers, 10 transports and swarms of men and tanks keep surrounding most of the continent.  The decisions are going to get tougher and tougher.  Will he defend Poland and Bulgaria and Germany and France this turn?  I will be surprised if he pulls it off, but players have surprised me before…

You are right - regular season vs. a playoff game threatening to go down 0-2.  Steelers also had an amazing comeback but fell just short.

I am so spoiled by the teams I picked from my childhood.  They have won more than their share of championships, and almost always go to the playoffs……  Makes it harder to swallow when they lose  :-)

But when my teams lose, if it’s a competitive game you can’t feel too bad…  Sometimes it’s just how the ball bounces…

Maybe I can sneak in that Italian move during 7th hour…
