China’s limitations do get annoying, but if it could run wild, Japan would have no choice but to take and hold it. Korea is probably a reasonable addition, but then people would think twice about placing factories there.

for clarification, if I board an allies transport can I unload that same turn if I don’t need the transport to move? like if I’m skipping across the lake/ocean…

Forces cannot both load and offload from a friendly power’s transport in a single turn, even if you want to offload in a territory adjacent to the friendly transport’s SZ. Check out page 30 in the rule book if you have a copy handy.
