It denies Moscow reinforcements on R6+, but it seems a powerful strategy and if Japan is weakened then halting Germany in the Middle East is easier. If it is premeditated then UK Pacific and ANZAC purchases and moves can be coordinated and combined with China to pressure key places like Yunnan, Malaya and the DEI. It also seems a better use of the US Pacific fleet, which for me often sits off Queensland or Hawaii and is easily blocked off by Japan whilst it is busy elsewhere.
Obviously every strategy has a counter strategy, and the skill and experience of the player is what makes the difference. I haven’t faced this before and couldn’t respond to it, but it has been interesting to learn about it.
