you’re welcome for the 9 transports. ouch.
well, another reminder that I should not make moves when running a high fever.

Yes, I believe thanks are in order. I was hoping to catch something with my boms.
Oh man, I hate fevers. Hope you feel better soon.
-
My fever broke around noon today. Too bad it was a little too late… :|
-
All I had to do was put the transports in Z1. Just totally overlooked those LIB bombers.
-
Well, let’s hope that doesn’t lose me the game. I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to miss those transports.

If you’re still certain you have the game won, perhaps you would be willing to put those 9 transports back on the board in Z1? :-)
-
Well, let’s hope that doesn’t lose me the game. I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to miss those transports.
I agree, I think that was a pretty big loss given the allies set up in the Atlantic, but you still have a ton of trns left. Which are really annoying by the way.

I do, but when the dice gods are involved never want to tempt fate so I gotta take all the breaks I can get. Plus I have to admit your play without Russia in the game has been spectacular (minus the UK fleet loss and trn loss here). And you’ve done a really good job of keeping yourself in the game and threatening EU. Much bigger threat then I anticipated. Great job!
However, I’m not sure if you’ll ever be able to overcome the army adv I have. I think prior to Germanys turn, I think I had about a 500 ipc lead. I haven’t done a unit count, but I’m assuming I have a unit count lead as well. So even if I keep it close to parity, I should be okay.
The problem I think the Allies have is, eventually they are going to have to try to take Rome or Berlin and that should cost you all of the UK army (including your ftrs) and most of the US army, meaning even if I had to trade Rome, any armor in Berlin should be there for clean up duty not only for Rome but maybe even for any remnants in France. As long as you’d come negative 50+ in ipc loss (combined UK US attack on Ita) I can absorb the loss of 24 ipc for Ita. In theory I could probably absorb the loss of the 60 ipc for Ger if I had to trade that for a turn assuming I still had 40 or so armor in Ita. Not ideal, but I was working through some of the numbers prior to my Ger turn to work out the defense and at the time I think the first wave of a UK attack would cost you about ~350 ipc, while I’d lose only ~150. Then with reinforcements and US losses it more than makes up for the loss of 24 ipc for Ita. Assuming of course I could retake with Ger/Jap which I should be able to do at this point. And in terms of unit count the UK can add about 14 units (28 hit pts per turn - 7 inf, 7 arm), the US about the same. So I just have to match that, Germany I can get 10 units (30 hp if I go 10 arm per turn Berlin) but I’ve been getting about 14 by placing some in Russia mainly ftrs for added defense, and Ita can get me 6 units (12 hp for all inf) and then Jap can add in another 5-7 defensive units per turn.
So that’s about 24-26 units for me, which is close enough for a rough count. The 11 rt is a nice move but I think you were only able to bring 6 inf, 3 arm to Fra this turn which means I only have to match 15 hp this turn. Again, the loss of the US trns really helps here.
so which I might not be able to quite match next turn, I should come out a bit ahead this turn to prepare. All that said I think you’ve given yourself a much better shot then I thought you initially had once you left Asia. I can look back and see, if I made any misteps the past few turns, you could have easily taken advantage of them. You are really keeping me on my toes and really well played! :-)

Thanks. I’m not sure but I think this game was about a dead heat until I lost those 9 transports (a little punitive for such a simple oversight, but those are the breaks).
-
I’d go so far as to say I’d give you a real run for the money in this game if I had those 9 US transports. Would be nice if you’d only take a couple for the oversight and leave me the rest in Z1 but I understand if you don’t want to.
Cheers

Perhaps its closer to even then I think. I typically don’t play this long after a capital falls, so I guess my judgment post fall of Moscow should be taken with a grain of salt.

Given your play, I have no doubt about that. :-)
But I can’t let the trns live  (perhaps if we weren’t already in Rd 25) but I actually specifically placed my boms in Lib to cover Sz 9 among other spots in the Atlantic as well as cover certain seazones in the Pac. I thought I might have a shot at close to double digit trns or even an AC. -
Just noticed you bought 11 rt, 3 inf but placed 9 rt, 5 inf.
Not sure which is correct.
-
oops you are right.
there should be one more transport in Z1 and 3 artillery placed in ECA instead of 2 infantry, artillery.
Cheers
