A&A 1940: Global Questions

@yazoinkergrapft Yes, the United States is allowed to declare war. If it does, the sea zone immediately becomes hostile, as there are enemy surface warships in it. However, since the United States is not declaring war until the Collect Income phase, during the Combat Move, Conduct Combat, and Noncombat Move phases the sea zone is still friendly, so the United States can still occupy it freely. On Japan’s next turn, its units in the sea zone will be starting the turn in an enemy-occupied sea zone, so the normal rules for that situation apply (those units must either move away in combat movement or attack).

I view the essays as para-historical entertainment from someone who contemplates the board waiting to find an opponent.

This is the setup for the Anniversary Edition. France is not a player power in that edition.

Since were all talking about G39…
Does anyone know if there is a simplified version of G39?
I have the latest map, it’s beautiful. But a little too complex and too many outside pieces required.
To me G40 is a great ruleset.

I would love to play a version that is G40 style with 39 setup on the 39 map.
It would also be much more appealing to new players.

Will these ever be updated for second edition?  They are too great to be forgotten.

Oh ,  and if you check out the early GNazi buys,  my Axis opponent  even admits he didn’t buy enough tanks since he used his airforce to destroy the British Navy in turn 2 and the Mediterranean Navy in turn 3  early in the game.  so the extra 9 IPCs from the far east could have been elminated earlier.  He didn’t hit it till Japan Turn 8  which meant the Soviets colleted 72 IPCs for the game from the far east.  cutting it down by turn 5 or 6 well after Germany was pressuring the Soviets and with Japan stomping to to india could have swung the war against the Allies!  I had also moved 15 far east troops all the way back to moscow and they were big help in retaking Stalingrad.

Germany, Japan and Italy have to be aggressive. While also taking calculation on when to go to war with certain countries. So if you just sit and build without moving, you’re doomed.

The two games that I have finished (in one go) have lasted 13 and 15 hours respectively.  I have played 4 others in an ongoing format where we would play a turn every other day.  All of these games lasted over a week.
