The proper way the combat process follows is:
1. attacker rolls dice
2. defender selects casualties
3. defend rolls dice
4. attacker selects casualties
5. combat ends or attacker continues attack or retreats
I could have rolled the dice and hit one. You would then need to select your OOL and choose a casualty, the dd or ca. If you selected the dd to be sunk and then rolled the defensive dice and hit one I could have lost a fgt and then #5 continuing the attack I could of rolled 1 ss “sneak attack” @2 and if that hit your ca wouldn’t have gotten to “fire back”. Do you understand? I basically gave up a slight attacking advantage, so as to expedite the process.
