    In short, if you type “dice 2d6” between the colons instead of something with the “aaa” format, it rolls 2 6-sided dice and displays the results.  You can roll any number of dice by changing the number before the d, and they can have any number of sides based on the number you put after the d.  The “aaa” format defaults to 6-sided dice, but some people use the “dice” format when a specific target number isn’t needed, like when determining who goes first or damage done by bombing raids.
