  • I think you need to refine Dunkirk. Make it so all units are turned into infantry. The Allies had to leave all their tanks and artillery pieces behind.

Then you would have to work out cost and the fact infantry dont just represent one guy, it would be a hassle. Just take it as an idea for retreating on defence if the correct circumstances are avaliable. As it is a National Advantage.

I guess you could reduce every unit transported to infantry.

The main issue of this proposal is that the game starts after Dunkirk with the Germans positioned to advance towards Paris and defeat the French. The starting French units on the UK already represent the forces evacuated through Dynamo.

  • Sorry what I meant was finnmans idea.

Its not meant to be timeline historical, all national advantages do is take an historical idea and apply it throughout the game so it can be used as an advantege. You are not limited to the french territories either you could rescue any unit anywhere with UK surface warships.
Yes it could be a possibility to replace all units with infantry but in some cases it may be better to stay and defend if thats the case.

  • The idea is to keep one countries NAs balanced with another countries NAs and then leave it up to the player on when and how they use them. Having 3 Axis Vs 6 Allies can make this challenging though.

Plus it adds a bit of flavour to the game.

  • Well the point of Dyamo was to rescue the British and French troops. Saving all those men was better than having them all be captured. So if you can defend the territory than go ahead. At Dunkirk they COULDN’T defend it so they evacuated.

Actually Dunkirk held throughout the evacuation. The French rearguard at Dunkirk fought bravely on until the last evacuating boat had left the beaches of Dunkirk. One British officer later compared the French defenders to those of the 300 Spartans at Thermopolye.

  • @TheDefinitiveS:

Siege of Tobruk – In 1941, Australians successfully defended the coastal city of Tobruk for 250 days from Rommel’s attacks as he advanced towards Egypt. Rommel attacked twice and failed. The Australians then counter attacked and in doing so captured two battalions of Italians.
ANZAC artillery may defend on a 3 in the North African territories of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Tobruk, Alexandria and Egypt. Once a territory has been defended successfully, you may choose 1 attacking unit that did not survive to complement your army. This applies as long as there was defending artillery. This also applies if some attacking units retreat. This also applies if it is a multinational defence.
There must be at least one ANZAC unit (any) in the territory to receive the chosen unit in the Non Combat Move phase of the attacker.

Why would ANZAC get a free unit, potentially something as powerful as a tank or a fighter?  Is it because they captured 2 battalions of Italians (why wouldn’t have fought for them)?

  • Its just an idea…maybe limit it to ground units only??
