@Cmdr:
Thinking Germany’s luck in France is well made up for with Italy’s luck in SZ 97!
Really? Hehe … you were 3 under, I was 1 over … differential of 4. That’s a long ways from the 19 differential in three land battles that took place on G1 - but then they were larger battles. In smaller battles, fracked dice are not terribly surprising and they always seem to be more dramatically tragic, but the larger the forces in a battle, usually the dice tend to even out. In Germany, the land battles never did… you just kept getting great results and I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn.
But it’s all in the perspective. You always think your own side took the worst of it. Truthfully, the German navy was spectacular on G1, while the land forces couldn’t shoot straight and their opponents couldn’t miss. For Britain it was the exact opposite … the land battles (largely equal forces) went your way pretty clearly, while relatively equal forces in the naval battles did not go your way. When I saw your combat moves, I thought I had a decent chance to win a couple of the land battles, and almost zero chance to win the naval battle in sz97. It went the opposite way. And the move against Kwangsi was a great move… if you’d gotten your sz97 dice in Kwangsi,… well,… let’s just say the Ambassador in Calcutta would be packing up right about now.
Ah, well… dice. It’s why we love/hate this game, right? Mulling over Italy’s choices… didn’t expect to have a navy in sz97. :)
