oh sure…you want the map!
@Cmdr:
oh sure…you want the map!
details, schmetails… i’m funny that way.
you know, with most people on here you can plot the move if they forget the map, but there are some folks who don’t always define where attacking troops are coming from. i’m not naming names or anything,… i’m just sayin’. :wink:
oooh,… i don’t like that map. too many american ships. you got another one? 8-)
You are correct, one of the destroyers that was on the American stack shouldnt have been, it should have been blocking the Japanese from SZ 6. ^_^
A US5 NCM after Russia6?? Hmmmmm….
Was it in your original NCMs (I haven’t looked)?
I believe so, since the idea was to isolate the Japanese navy and thus, Japan would take 4 convoy damage no matter what happened this round. (You could move the ships into SZ 6 during NCM, but could not kill the submarines because it is non-combat, not combat.)
I dunno, I don’t generally look at the Pacific when I do Russia. I look at N. Africa, Europe, Russia (of course) and China.
It’s not a problem… I was just hasslin’ ya… :wink:
and here i thought aa50 was complicated with sea zones… whew! that pacific mosaic will take a while to figure out. and when u.s. starts pouring money into the ocean, it gets deep in a hurry. hard to believe i’d ever feel sorry for japan, but in this case, the onslaught in unrelenting. tojo sends frantic message to the reich office in berlin: “hurry up, will ya?”
this is the best i can do… and i have no idea what i’m trying to do except stay alive…

on the sbr of japan… my 2 japanese ftrs would have defended against the bombing run since your bomber was unescorted over tokyo. you can:
- scratch the damage if you would not have flown the mission under those conditions, or
- roll my ftrs and see if the bomber is shot down… they hit on 2.
you’re call.
Scratching, wasn’t aware of escorts. So if I had brought 4 fighters with me, you could not have escorted, or would have not elected to escort?
You need a map
@Cmdr:
Scratching, wasn’t aware of escorts. So if I had brought 4 fighters with me, you could not have escorted, or would have not elected to escort?
from alpha+2 rules (that you sent me, by the way) :wink:
SBR procedure:
• Escorts (fighters flying with the strategic bombers) fire @ 1, and interceptor (defending fighters) casualties are immediately removed.
• Strategic bombers fire @ 1 and interceptors fire @ 2. Remove bomber and interceptor casualties (escorts may be taken as casualties only after all bombers are eliminated).
• Surviving bombers are assigned a specific target (IC, airbase or naval base) if more than one type is in the territory.
• The target fires its AA defenses at the attacking aircraft - @1
• Surviving bombers attack their target, looking for the highest number possible.
The bolded part, to me, makes sbrs almost an afterthought in this game. it’s just too risky if there are fighters present, even if you can send escorts. all it takes is one hit to take down your strategic bomber. now, sbrs against naval and air bases are another matter, and if there aren’t defending aircraft, you can do some major damage there… taking away that extra movement point is critical, especially in an ocean as large as the pacific.
Your choice noted… Japan IC has no damage.
