@hengst This house rules forum is full of ideas. To avoid scripted games you need a varaiety ways to win or lose a game in a reasonable amount of time ,eg 8 to 12 rounds.BBR and 3G40 are rulesets that encourage you to win by achieving various victory objectives.(not just victory cities)
3G40 changes turn order, merges Anzac into UKPacific, and sticks pretty close to oob rules.BBR is more complex than oob and is real popular. Both are designed to play in 1 day and to be able to declare a winner.
ANZAC as an Axis power

I have been thinking about making ANZAC an Axis ally of Japan to create some fresh game play and Pacific balance. I would make them neutral to begin the game and allow them to DW on their 3rd turn. There is alot of variants to this adjustment. Any ideas on how this might work?

Easy Axis win, unless you change the VC rule.

Yes…. There would be lots of changes needed, but how cool would it be to have a second axis power in the Pacific. Right now the japs are against Russia, China, UK, France, ANZAC and the US. If ANZAC were an axis power the sides would be 4 for Axis and 5 for Allies.

I would start by switching all ANZAC units outside of aussi and new Zealand territories with French forces.
