How to spend 12 IPCs

@The_Good_Captain The rule applies in all sea battles where there are sea units allied to the attacker present, regardless of the type(s) of defending German sea units. The rule mentions only German subs because the author failed to take into account the possibility that the situation could also exist with German surface units if they were mobilized in a hostile sea zone. This oversight was corrected in the Axis & Allies Pacific Rulebook.

@andrewaagamer Ah ok, thank you very much. I haven’t really played this game yet. I started a game with my nephew, but we underestimated the time for the set up and the fact that we often have to go read the rules for this or that. We didn’t play much at all. And now I’m translating the rulebook in french and I was wondering if I should add this point to the original to make it clearer to understand. Thx.

They do not. The printed value on the territories apply only when/if Germany captures them in which case the Allies must decide who pays Germany that number of IPCs. The relevant rule is on page 19/20 of the Europe rulebook.

Specifically, the “note” on page 20 reads, “The loss of Middle Eastern countries does not lower the Allied players’ income on the chart.”

The Middle East is strictly a liability to the Allies in this game.

germany is in a wierd position. germany in A&AE starts off in a pickle like it does in the origanal. they have a big military, plenty of territory, but a small amount of ipc to start. however they dont have the stamina to last a grudge mach. that is why you need a good basic strategy the first few rounds, and evolve it as the game goes on. you need to conquer the sea and maintain good preassure in the USSR. you need to build 2-3 destroyers each turn for about 5 or so turns. then you need to bominate the sea. by taking and keeping the convoy routs, as well as destroying the allied navy. after turn 4-5 build a few transports, and inft. send them to the middle east. by doing this you get much needed ipc. on top of that you can continue to transport small amounts of troops over there. this opens up a small defeansive force that can march slowly to moscow. however make sure there are a few tanks with it. if you take this force and combine it with your main force in the west it will devosate the USSR, without the other allies to support her. and once you take the USSR, you obviously have a good lead. but you need to pump out a few ships during this process. if you loose the sea the allies can land troops in the european continent.

As a reaction to an additional german trans in the baltic or any other placement of ground forces in Eastern Europe an addtional fighter would raise the russian airforce to 2 fig, 1 bmb.

Pro:
Trading countries with airforce assistance minimizes failure in your attack and losses on the enemy counterattack. One additional reusable attack unit is excellent to slow german progress at reasonable costs.
And should it all go wrong there is an additional 4 defending Moscow.

Con:
1 fig is less pieces than 4 inf or 3 art
