    It’s the original Sub, which moved to z54 at turn 1, then hold position, then moved to z41 during turn 3 and finally z78 at turn 4

    yeah, that’s kinda what i was getting at. on the alpha+2 starting units, australia has no sub. here’s what i see on the rule chart for anzac:

    New South Wales: 2 Infantry, 1 AA gun, 1 Minor IC, 1 Naval Base.
    New Zealand: 1 Infantry, 2 Fighters, 1 Airbase, 1 Naval Base.
    Queensland: 2 Infantry, 1 Artillery, 1 Fighter, 1 Airbase, 1 Naval Base.
    Malaya: 1 Infantry
    Egypt: 2 infantry
    Sea Zone 62: 1 Destroyer, 1 Transport
    Sea Zone 63: 1 Cruiser

    do you have a different starting placement list? it ain’t on mine. i don’t really care… i will adjust my ncm’s if he’s supposed to be there. honestly, i didn’t even notice it until a turn ago, and then i only glanced back at your buys to see if i had missed something…

    i think it is an inadvertent placement on the starting map, from either out of box rules, or alpha1 set. ??


  • True, after double check there’s no sub in Alpha 2 setup.

    Thing is we started with your map. I noticed the extra (and removed) UK Cr in z85 and wrongly put a sub in z47. But I annonced it : http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=22763.135

    As we played many turns with that sub, I feel it was known and played accordingly with by both players since start. I agree I had advantage, so I propose do deduct 6IPC from Anzac to pay for that sub.

    I didn’t look if starting map had other misplaced units (as UK’s Cr), but I’m ok to assume it’s ok as it is.

    that’s fair … i did post the first map, so i am primarily responsible.
    i went back and looked at my alpha+2 starting map (which i got on the forums somewhere), and sure enough, there was an australian sub in sz47. promptly deleted and re-saved starting map.

    two ncm’s changed… dd and bb go from sz42 > sz41, instead of to sz45. australia’s hefty bank account $6 lighter. thanks.

    i haven’t seen it… do you know where it can be downloaded?
    btw… enjoying the game, too. most folks on here are pretty low-key, but every now and then you run across a win-at-all-cost type. i like laid back, easy-going, it’s-for-fun atmosphere here…

    the sz85 cruiser i caught. and the missing air base in southern italy i caught. but for some reason, that australian sub escaped my attention. he must have been submerged!  :wink:

    boy, the nuances are killing me. literally. i thought having morocco would close the med to the u.s. ships, but apparently you only have to control gibraltar. never would have brought those italians to morocco if i’d read a little closer. and i didn’t think the u.s. fighters could get to sz6… the pacific ocean mosaic is just ridiculous to try to figure out. this game’s pretty much over as a result of dumb/ignorant plays on my part…

    don’t scramble the german fighters… why lose 3 more air units?

    Yes, only Gibraltar controls this passage. Actually, subs can always travel freely, no matter who controls Gibraltar.
    I could have (and would have) attack Italian no matter where they would have been.

    About US fighters, It’s one thing I like to surprise with. I don’t know how many players know this trick, but I surprise few of them. It’s a little set back for Japan as they now have a threat against homeland. Japan can easily response to that threat… but their progression is halted meanwhile.

    But, most of all, I think I have the edge because German’s advance is not strong enough to take over Moscow and they now face 2 sided front… almost 3 if I succeed to break Italy. German is strong enough to destroy multi national fleet in English Chanel, but they won’t recover losses as quick as Allies. Besides, this attack against English channel will prevent critical air support against Russia.

    All that being said, I think you’re a strong player. Your Japan’s moves is the strongest I ever faced at sea… I even take your model for my Japan start from now on. 5Transports is not enough to seriously threat London or to surprise Leningrad. I did same mistake at my first game in Alpha 2. There again I took model from another player who buy 2 Tr at first turn, and then 7-8 more.

    To sum up, I enjoy this game. I do feel I have the edge, but not sure it’s an axis lost cause… in anycase, whenever you feel to forfeit it’s ok with me. If you want to restart a new game (switching side or not), I’m in for sure. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from you.
