Yes, it’s legal.  Of course, if you destroy all of the defending units in the first combat round, you’re stuck.

Yes, because the blitzed territory is unoccupied.

Let me rephrase: Allies control E. Europe, they control the entire Eastern front and deny its income to Germany and secure it to themselves. Let Japan have Africa (and divert units away from Russia).

Yes, the AA50 sub rules are a bit muddled, but the FAQ helps immensely.

There are no official rules on undoing a mistake, so you’ll have to work that out with your opponent.  However, many on-line clubs have procedures for such situations.  Maybe one of their members will suggest something here.

Thanks, that makes sense, I think our confusion came about because we forgot that when fighters attack defenseless transports there is an actually rolled out battle, it’s just that it isn’t done to save time.  Which in this case is applied to the sub to keep rolling if there are further rounds of combat and then depending upon whether there is an air victory by either side (transport sunk either way) or if there is a retreat before the sub hits (transport survives).
