MOVED: Where / How to PBEM?

I thought for Spring42’ 2nd edition, the bid goes to the allies? I’m confused here.

Yes, the AA50 sub rules are a bit muddled, but the FAQ helps immensely.

There are no official rules on undoing a mistake, so you’ll have to work that out with your opponent.  However, many on-line clubs have procedures for such situations.  Maybe one of their members will suggest something here.

Thanks, that makes sense, I think our confusion came about because we forgot that when fighters attack defenseless transports there is an actually rolled out battle, it’s just that it isn’t done to save time.  Which in this case is applied to the sub to keep rolling if there are further rounds of combat and then depending upon whether there is an air victory by either side (transport sunk either way) or if there is a retreat before the sub hits (transport survives).

Just to clarify….the OP is referring to the AE gambit in low luck.  So he’s not really risking much by taking one less fig to UKR…he will still take it 100% but just with higher than av. losses.

It’s difficult to judge the efficacy of the gambit because whether it works or not depends on dice and the German player’s reaction.  If Germany ends up skipping SZ2…then it worked.  Or if Germany fails to actually take Egy, it worked.  The main risk is if Germany goes to both 2 and Egy and succeeds…  On the other hand, sometimes Germany will go to both 2 and Egy and get diced up…even 2 is not a sure thing in low luck because of the Russian sub.

Right - I forgot about the sub in sz 8.  I’ve become accustomed to sending that sub after the defenseless UK transport off eastern Canada.  However, ensuring the destruction of the UK Battleship seems like a much higher priority.  Thanks.

good deal, that’s the way we played it, but the way the printing actually worked out overlapping it coulda helped the German defense of the Med, as would have that UK sz3 thing to protect Karelia.

Please don’t misunderstand me, I think the no promotion, no hype approach is at minimum myopic. I’m just speculating about why they might be taking the approach at all.

Somone mentioned to me why the big glut of game fairs quickly died back to just Origins and Gen Con was that the game companies were expending serious coin to reach very few new eye balls.

It just seems to me that would apply here to a degree. The return on investment of marketing A&A board games does not, in the company’s opinion, warrant the exercise. I see no other rationale for not marketing the games more strongly.
