Generally speaking powers defend together. However in G40 there are powers that start off neutral (Russia and USA) or not at war with each other (like Japan and UK/France). You could have a case at sea when you attack a sz with units from multiple powers, and can ignore the units that belong to a power that you aren’t yet at war with.
Question : Japan's starting territories
-
AAP40 and AAG40 those territory are Japan’s color :
Manchuria, Jehol, Shantung, Kiangsu, Kiangsi and KwangsiBut also have a chinese symbol. For allies (USA, UK, ANZAC, RUSSIA) do they :
1. Take control of those territories (so collect income and build IC if value is high enough)
2. Free them for Chinese (so Chinese collect and Allies can’t build IC or bases)Thank you.
Question comes up because in Abattles modules those lands are chinese’s color.

it’s 2. They’re chinese (and are considered chinese original territory’s, not japanese). Also, if you are using Alpha rules, Japan cannot build a major IC on those with value more than 2.

Yeah, I see it now in rulebook page 9.
Sorry bothering you with this, I could have read it (and remember) at first place. :|
