Bomber in Moscow, possible 1 more fighter or Fighter-Bomber but near manchuria
Remove some Japanese planes, but replace them with another ship(s), probably combination of transport ( AP) and more infantry
Add BB in Hawaii
Combine the Italian fleet so it cant be wiped out
Possible add 1-2 infantry in or near Egypt for UK

One to two subs a turn is not a bad idea for the germans. First of all you take away a British NO, secondly building one off the coast of southern France threatens the gibraltar sea zone.  There’s a legitimate chance of knocking out a few transports outside of gibraltar with a few subs from the med and air power from west Germany.  Although to do it you need Italy or Germany to hold Morocco as that’s the only landing space available for fighters and tacs from w Germany.

This tactic does sound like it can hurt the Russians.  I have been able to sack Moscow as Germany in the games I played but it is very hard and I don’t always succeed.  There have been other games where I died in the Russian Winter.

I don’t think I could use the Italian aircraft against the opponent I play because he is usually pretty adamnent about reducing Italy to next to nothing before he strikes anything else.  On UK1 he sinks half of my Italian fleet.  Which hurts a lot but the main problem is the US fleet he pulls out of the Pacific and sends into the Med along with some subs and transports to end Italy’s war efforts in Africa.  Meanwhile he flys fighters to Hawaii and transports Infantry there.  It would still be possible to take out Hawaii as Japan but would take a lot of resources for very little economic gain.

I have countered by trying to win the game as Japan and I have killed India J3 with the purchase of the Hainan Naval base.  Yet even then by the time I set my sights on the last victory city Italy has been stomped to irrelevant and the US is back in the Pacific.

How many subs do you recommend attacking SZ106 with? 2 subs or 3 subs? If the answer is 3 subs that leaves only 2 subs to attack SZ109 with, along with one FTR and one S. Bomber. I don’t see any other aircraft that can reach SZ109 on the first turn. Attacking SZ109 w/only 2 subs seems a little light, as the UK can scramble 3 FTR’s to help rescue SZ109. So I’m guessing the best strategy is to attack SZ109 w/3 subs to help absorb casualties, in case the UK player scrambles? And only attack SZ106 w/2 subs? If only Germany had one more sub…

Do the attack value for pairings stay the same when the unit that allows it is taken as a casualty?
For example, if I’m attacking something with a fighter and a tac, and i choose the fighter as a casualty, does the tac remain at 4 for the next roll?

Also, can planes keep attacking subs once the destroyer is destroyed?

No and no.  Each round of battle you look at what you have.  If you have a tac with no fighter or tank, it’s attacking at 3 (if a fighter or tank was lost in the previous round of battle, you’re immediately down to a 3).  Same with artillery pairings.

When you go into a round of battle with no destroyers, you have now lost your capability to hit subs.  This can work to your advantage, too.  If you take off all destroyers, then your opponent can’t choose subs for your plane hits.  Make sure you separate your plane and boat rolls for this reason.

It’s because you never built one.

If they build one, Germans go around the island and land in UK from Z109. Since you bought a fleet, there is little opposition on the island

While I would enjoy an Axis & Allies 1940 version or setup that was more historically accurate, it would be extremely difficult to win as the Axis.  Particularly as Japan.
