Buy Euro & pacific games. download the Alpha+2 rules and objectives and set ups,  play both OOB and the Alpha+2 using the global rules for the OOB and the Alpha+2 rules for the other set up. I think you’ll see the diff.

I’ve found floating a sub (or a couple!) on down off the west coast of Africa can work out pretty well.  Some nice convoy action down there to disrupt, and not many threats around.  Puts U.K. out of position if they come chase you down.

No.  USSR may not move into territories outside its own on the Europe map until it is at war with Germany and/or Italy.  Also, it may not move into territories outside its own on the Pacific map until it is at war with Japan.

Regarding flights/landings, are islands still part of the sea zone? Meaning, does it take an aircraft 1 turn to enter the seaszone surrounding the island, or does it get that “for free”?

Islands are separate spaces from the sea zones that they’re in.  It takes a movement point to enter or leave an island.

You are right.  You cannot have fully loaded transports.  However, you can have 5 or 6 transports sitting on the coast with all the troops and tanks and artillery and mech inf just waiting.  It makes the Germans keep an eye on the US and slam everything into USSR or UK.  It is a great deterrent.
