Liberating questions

My mistake was not sending my two move units to Romania the previous turn as Germany. I just played out turn 9 and US was able to stack Northern Italy. Italy is out of the game now, but on the other side of the board Japan is making 105, and he is bombing Russia with 5 bombers every turn. He has more than UK in the south and he can now start landing in Africa taking the money away from Russia and UK. I do agree that US is going to eventually take Germany, but could he do it before Moscow falls? Probably :/

I’ve done a couple games ftf with the latest A 3.9 where I spent $5 a turn every turn on tech. It’s not a huge waste all at once and yeah that could mean a couple less fighters in the game long term, but the potential payoff is nice. In one game my partner and I got LR air with US on turn 3-4 and were able to immediately sink a combined German/Italy fleet in sz91 because of all extra air we could fly in.

I wouldn’t consider tech on a consistent basis like that with any other country except maybe Japan/Germany later in the game once they’re around 60+ and they’re in a position where they can spare 5 bucks a turn. Maybe USSR if Germany went Sea lion and USSR has a huge stack in EPL that won’t go anywhere for several turns.

Yep, so can the UK, Anz, or Russia. They have to liberate them from the axis though. If the axis don’t take them from the French, then the allies can’t liberate them to collect while Paris is in axis hands.

BTW with alpha rules when Paris is liberated, the French also get to immediately drop 12 IPCs worth of units (it’s 4 inf w/OOB) on the tt of France (Paris). They only get to do this once, the first time Paris is liberated. So if the US liberates Paris, the French get to place these units immediately during the US turn right after the US wins the battle. If the UK is also ready to reinforce Paris with more units/air on their turn the allies may be able to hold it, depending on how prepared the Euro axis are.

I think the addition of bases are Genius, they are 2 of the most simplistic units in the game, but they add so much. By far the most identifiable element that separates global from the others.

That’s true, bases are great!
Of course they work so fine because of the big sized map, Spring 42 with bases would be ridiculous :)

This is off subject but has to do with the fact of the U.S. building a minor IC in korea. Can they move within striking distence of that when there not at war even though Japan can not end movement withing 2 zones of alaska or the western U.S.?

Yes.  The United States is only prohibited from being next to Japanese soil in the Pacific.  If they want to leave their fleet next to SZ 6, but not in SZ 6, they may do so.

Yes.  SZ110 connects SZ104, 105 & 109 to 111 & 112.  There is no seperate English Channel Seazone.  The only Seazone that is currently unmarked (and should be numbered) is the Caspian Sea.
