Yes, it does not matter which territory the troops on the transport are invading. The amphibious assault is in the sea zone adjacent to a territory with an airbase, which is all that is required.
Your understanding is correct, MarkVIIIMarc. However, in scenario 2 the UK player has no casualty options that won’t result in stranding the fighter. Since sub hits must be taken on sea units, the only casualty options are the one you chose or taking both hits on the carrier, dooming both fighters. At any rate, taking the hit on the carrier and stranding the fighter is always an option.
If there had to be a historical mistake on the AAE game, I think leaving out the Aden naval base would be the one i’d choose (along with making Sierra Leone neutral… it doesn’t affect the game at all)
The one I’d choose is have the RN able to survive G1
